For CK vets
So I just want to get a general feel from the vets of CK 1 and CK 2, about how you feel about CK 3. Does feel like it meets your expectations?.

I'm no vet, but I played 100+ hours and I have a similar question to OP. I really enjoyed CK2 a couple of years ago, and I've slowly gotten all the DLC during sales. I tried to get back into CK2, but it's definitely a dated game. I suspect that with a little dev time, CK3 will be more balanced, get most of the missing features from CK2, and get plenty of new features. I doubt it will be "CK2 lite" for very long.

So I'm deciding whether to play CK2 for the time being or just jump over to CK3, since I haven't played at least 1/3 of the latest CK2 DLC anyways.

Amazing game but sadly the education system sucks, unless you play as the kid yourself and even then it still sucks with very few events popping that relate to your chosen path. The RNG swing is mad, even when you assign everything perfectly. Aside from that and the inevitable garbage that will sit on your throne its 10/10

For those who havn't played CKI, I can say it was a pretty stale game even at launch, it was character driven like CKII, but I didn't feel much sympathy for the characters, and nothing much seemed to happen. It had no expansions and you could only play as a Christian. The game was obsolete even before CKII arrived. For my own sake I'd say that CKIII havn't made CKII obsolete yet, but with future pathches, DLC's and mods, it probably will happen at some point.

I would bet CK3 never obsoletes CK2. CK3 will stay mainstream CK2 Lite. Real CK will be CK2.
i'd take that bet....

I do hope they Improve CKIII to beyond CKII, but yea there are some fundamental differences between the two games, so that CKII would still be attractive for a long time.
