I'm mad - I died and the land got divided into pieces
WTH? My land is split by all my children. I want them in the same country not divided. What should I do?

Try kinslaying. Works every time.

Until you can change succession laws, you best manage your sons better. Either don't have that many children somehow(get rid of wife after you get a son?), or get rid of the extra sons somehow. Like, let them lead armies so they die, or disinherit them.

I wish there was an option to stop producing babies
but beside that, what succession laws am I looking for? I'm still in the first tier innovations

Is there anywhere to see what land goes to who when you die? If I knew who it was id kill them all off and just keep one son

Click on your primary title and see the line of succession. There, you'll see your 2nd and 3rd in line successors getting some of your titles and you can see which titles they inherit by hovering your mouse on them.

Yeah you gotta pay close attention succession laws. Gavelkind splits all titles between all siblings upon your rulers death. You can change it later on, but for now you'll have to navigate the split kingdom.

You can try to have the lines of succession murdered until they pass to you, or you can fabricate claims on titles you want and go to war for it. HOWEVER, even if you do that, under gavelkind succession all those titles will be divided among your personal heirs when your ruler dies. The split will keep happening until you implement new succession laws.

You could try to make a single male heir and have him be the sole inheritor but that's risky. You can also try to make a ton of babies and then disinherit all but one, so that all titles pass to them. Can't speak to the consequences of that path though, lol

The AIs that blob always blob because they pick an elective succession so your forced to pick elective yourself just to keep up a pretty big design flaw imo. Also to solve your issue just pick change succession laws under the decision tab and pick the elective option. It comes with its own host of issues though

Open the Realm tab at the right side and then click on Succession. It will show you what your primary heir will get and what titles will be lost. Easier than looking it up manually at the title's succession lmao

Depending on your country you will have different succession laws- A good tip would be to keep an eye on how old you are and how many children you have, when I start to get above 50 years old or get sick I will deal with my children immediately.

If you have more than one son right click on one of them and disinherit them, that way your titles will ONLY pass on to your preferred heir.. or if you're feeling frisky just arrest any of your unwanted children bound to inherit (If they're young it's 100% chance of success) and then immediately execute them. Who cares if you're a kinslayer if your about to die from cancer anyway?

DOUBLE BONUS TIP:
If you reform a religion you can make kinslaying completely acceptable, adopt human sacrafice, and then get free piety from executing your 4 unwanted sons who insist on splitting your kingdom after your death to the great Imhotep.

OP,
Apologies, this will be a bunch of jumbled thoughts typed out, hopefully it helps/makes sense.

The rules I follow for playing Crusader Kings 3. (Until you know the ins and outs)
1) Don't play Ironman. *acquired Craven trait*
2) Go to game options and change autosave to occur every month. This way you can correct a mistake you made due to ignorance of game mechanics.
3) Take a break for an hour or two when bad things happen that you don't understand.

I think my game is "ruined", because I passed the Tanistry Election succession law instead of keeping it normal. I remember it being decent in CK2, but it seems to work totally different in CK3 Could be wrong, I'll admit my ignorance here, hopefully someone can correct me if so.

Anyway, I was under the impression that my Primary Titles would go to whoever I select as my heir. Example, I have King of Ireland, Duchy of Munster, and County of Ormond. I made sure to vote for the Heir I wanted, and forced others to vote w/ me. When my ruler died however, the person I chose didn't acquire those titles Kingdom of Ireland.

Confused by this, I reloaded and looked at the succession. Sure enough its only my Kingdom title that will go to my heir. Bloody hell, definitely my bad, but this succession stuff is hard to get the hang of.

I got used to having all the titles being divided between children, as long as my main titles go to my heir. This way I can just worry about building up that single County, then the duchy and whatever i want after. Think of it as having less things to micromanage in your Realm, let your vassals handle that stuff.

Keep these things in mind when using Confederate Partition Laws.
***IMPORTANT***
NEVER HOLD MORE THAN 1 OF YOUR HIGHEST TITLE!
If you are a Duke, don't hold 2 Duchy titles, If you are a King don't hold 2 Kingdom titles. When you die, the non-primary Kingdom title will pass to a son and they will be independent from you, splitting your realm. If you hold 1 Kingdom title, you should be ok to create mulitple Duchy titles. When you die, they will pass to other family members, but you hold the King title so you are still their Daddy.

Don't get frustrated OP, just follow my 3 rules, and reload a save from previous month when something F'd happens and you have no idea what's going on. Learn from the mistake and try to fix it after the reload.

For those way smarter with the game please correct any dumb things I said, happy gaming OP!

If this is true, it's the most helpful thing I've heard so far. I want the primary heir to be the leader and his siblings to be his vessel. I'll test it out. Thanks
