Raids are terrible
Is there anyway to break off a raid? I mean for goodness sake it's not a raid if you can't hit and run. I literally have to watch as an army marches from the top of Scotland to the mid of England. It's not realistic and its not enjoyable. A better idea would have been the option to have the garrison come out and fight, it's what they are they for is it not?
Other bad things about a raid....an army will glitch and not leave. So if you didn't have troops out already, you have to sit there for years on end while they block you, not matter the raiding party size. Did I mention it's inferiating that troops won't leave the walls to fight a raid? If someone going to say it's going to simumlate a town getting destroyed, that really doesn't have anything to do with the town losing money necessarily, cause a lord is can move the villagers into the castle. and if they are moved into castle, a town can be rebuilt. if a town can be rebuilt you're not necessarily losing revenue. I know there are character perks to lower the time... but that's another thing. why on earth does it take so long, it's not a raid if it takes more then a day....

Raid are OP. Wait for someone close to be in a bad position during a war and go raid his town. Come back, use money/fame to improve your city and army, and repeat the process until you can get an army big enough to contest low kingdom armies. At this point you just pick a country, raid all his cities and come back with 100 gold/fame.

If you add to this the gold you get for captured people during raid you end up with a better economy than most Feudal Duchy with almost no risk but to see a big army rushing you before you can end the raid. If you could leave the raid as soon as an army is approching the raid mechanic would be broken as hell.

do all that but buy the +.2 pretige per county thing.

and go down the diplo line that gives u +1 prestiege, it also has a boost for knights and dread. A saga will net u +5 more pretiege I was getting around 30+ per month when I was maxing it out as king of norway. The dread is like +40% prestiege, its pretty crazy.

The warrior lodges give u stacking additional buffs to units and +2 knights per building... I can fied like 40 knights and even my light infantry is like 40 damage now.

You basically get unlimited duchy conquest and one kingdom invasion.

ah only norse and west africans can start raiding with boats, its a lot better. Well the old system sucked this ones a lot better. The old system allowed u not to wait but eventually you had to siege down a city or something before it would b worth it.

If your getting killed raiding dont bother, you probablly have man at arms and they cost more to replace.

If you fight while raiding you get prestiege not just fame. Generally what you do is raid and use the cash to hold feasts to give more prestiege to build more men and arms and the buildings that give you prestiege.

No I hardly get killed at all, i was pissed because I was restarting a game because of their messed up declare war interface. I constantly click the county or guy i want to attack but they keep putting some other county into the objective list first and half the shields look alike.

So on my restart I had to deal with the some norse guys who marched across like 8 counties and ruined another game early.

Raids are over powered except you almost need them to progress the game or to do fun things.

Being OP doesn't mean some of the mechanics are still crap for dealing with the OP.

I personally think it shouldn't even be on the strategy board, it should just be event driven and some interface thing or like some pre battle event more like HoI but instead of the PC/AI determining the battle choices the player choices them.

the constant "magic" manpower reinforcement doesn't help either with the game.

I don't know why i'm wasting so much time and energy on this, I feel like I'm playing some EU game.

What made CK fun was dealing with the court stuff, I do like non of that now, it's just farming and cheesing, farming and cheesing.

Raids are insane. Just make sure you aren't raiding someone who will have way more troops than you, or is occupied by a war. Once your army is big enough it's no problem getting 100+ gold and renown every raid if you make sure and target areas filled with high value settlements. I hear what you're saying with not being able to use more guerilla tactics with raiders, but without locking your army in place until your finished with a raid there would be 0 downside because you could just up and leave the second you see an army coming, and come right back when they're gone. 0 Risk.

Raids are insane == Raids are Terrible, like the "catch" mechanics are less then desired and I agree, its "insane" aka it's your economy. It can be both terrible and insane, insanely terrible.

ok my bad, i read the second part of your stuff and we're saying the same thing essentially

=)
