I'm playing Ireland right now in 898 and have almost all of Ireland and am able to sorta go toe to toe with Sweden. I think they're off conquering southern France or something...so just let them overextend or wait for their king to die and they'll blow to pieces.
Started in Austisland, conquered Vestisland. Then went on to Faereyar, and after winning that one, inherited a Holy War. Turns out that Scotland was on a killing spree with 3000 men, doing HWs on everyone in range. Meanwhile Ivar the Boneless was just sitting there with 6000 men doing absolutely nothing.
For early game just give up your territory to viking, or just dont invade anyone
The impression I get is they are evaluating easy targets. In the romp stomping games it was a bunch of single county stuff. Also I noticed if you lose troops in a raid, hold your breath, someone likely about to declare war if a single county. If you have allies , are a vassal, or have decent troop strength, it seems like they leave you alone more or less. Not that they won't eventually come, but they seem drawn to the easier targets.
Yea they are historically, just dont invade anyone in british isles and alliance with all nations in british isles
alliance from other side world is pretty useless, they are so late
