AI is pretty ♥♥♥♥ tbh
Hey guys, loved CK 2 played it for about 450 hours. Huge Paradox Fan. I just feel that the AI in CK 3 is pretty much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I just fought with the king of england in a war to save his kingdom vs an uprising vassal. I fought their army with my 2700 men vs their 3400 because the english army 5000 was nearby. The english AI didnt join my army and just ran from left to right next to the fighting. i reloaded the savegame and they were doing that again and again. After that i saw it happening again in another war with wales. Like wtf :D

Experiencing the same. AI is incredibly apprehensive about joining combat to the point of treachery. Was fighting in Denmark with allies, moved to intercept the enemy's biggest stack with a 1500 man advantage, then one of the allied stacks just broke off and sat in a German province next to us for a bit. Lost a crusade to this as well, when a dozen 2k stacks all fled in random directions instead of ganging up on 6000 enemies.

The AI was probably thinking the same looking at the fight..

AI is overwhelmingly better. AI actually do intelligent things and have real objectives behind the scenes while you play your character now. Huge improvement from last game.

The combat AI actually seems decent to me, like I've seen my allies make some pretty good moves to exactly where I wanted them. That said, I've gotten screwed over once or twice by the AI not joining in as well when they were the next county over for no discernible reason, we almost certainly would have won... I think...

I'm sure we'll get some expansions focused on combat and interacting with allies that will make the allies decision making process clearer. I'd really love to have a "war council" with my allies where we decide our strategy.

Honestly the AI is not bad. It's just annoying. They run around all the place, escaping from my army, navigating around to siege my capital. It's like a Benny Hill sketch.

I dream of a DLC with a proper battle system.

I don't get the AI's logic. Like, I declare a minor war on a neighbor who's men are tangled in two wars on the other side of Europe. The guy instantly yeets his 20k troops in my face, not giving a ♥♥♥♥ about his two current wars, and losing them in the process.

I don't even get how he can have such a small title and 20k guys in his armies but that's another thing.

Yeah same thing here. Need to be able to direct AI if they don't decide on sensible targets. They had this in EUIV ages ago.

I enjoy CK3, but you're bullshitting. The war AI is abominable. Every war involves the AI trying to backcap each other's capitals, which is just ridiculous military strategy.

My ally went into a war with someone and called me for help. I send my army there to join them and together we could've easily defeat their army. I couldn't on my own so I decided to follow my ally but instead of attacking their army, both my ally and the enemy were running in circles, occupying each other's counties. Eventually some other 3rd party vassals joined in as well and then I think my ally surrendered.

It really feels like sometimes allies aren't aware you are there to help or if you need one yourself.

Ai is definitely smarter in some areas, but completely worse in others. It's like they're now smart enough to be annoying but also dumb enough to be just as annoying. They seem to prioritize occupying provinces because that's how you get reliable warscore, but they don't realize that if they group up with other armies to kill the enemy army then they won't have their provinces getting occupied to begin with. It also seems like if they are in 2 wars at once, an offensive and defense war they will focus on gaining land rather than keeping what they already have, but I might not have enough of a sample size for this yet.

That's what I've seen. Overall effect is a pretty dumb AI.
