How the hell am I supposed to get 1000s of piety?

Be real here, there really isnt a source of piety that I can see, so how the ♥♥♥♥ am I supposed to either A) Make my own religion or B) Form a unique empire?

Go to your decisions menu and take a pilgrimage.

Until you get to late 1000s where you can then participate in a crusade.

Holy wars are another source of piety.

Each virtue you have is 1-2 piety per month. You can also go down the Medicine lifestyle path to pick up celibacy for +1 piety per month, get an Irish spouse to become Insular and take a Vow of Poverty for +1 piety per month, or win battles in a Holy War.

Your suppose to get it over generation of your people not your first ruler.

Easy.

Groom an heir to have high learning, then pick the learning tree and go and grab the Prophet skill. That's an instant 50% discount on religion changes - and your heir is raking in piety.

As for the rest? Combination of random events, pilgrimages, burning people on the stake (if you're a pagan) and such.

It is not hard at all to get 4-5000 Piety if you're focused on it and don't die young.

I almost got it with my first ruler then got it with my second. Wasn’t too difficult. Scholarly lifestyle focuses give you events to earn piety so I was able to afford the 5.1k cost about 20 years before I died as King of Lithuana starting in the viking age.

I had 6k piety at one point. Holy wars and crusades rack it up quickly.

There are a lot of choices and events that give piety and a lot of them give 100 at a time and stuff. Though you can get a lot passively if you have the right traits.
