Why do the Isles have 6000 special troops?

I'm Alba and you used to be able to pretty much attack strathcylde and the isles to unify scotland and now you can't because the Isles have 6000 extra troops for some reason?

Historical thing.

Its pretty much all norse clans combined into a raiding party.

Its the famous historic Pagan Army that raided Britain. You'll have to deal with it lmao

isles and Jorvik have +5k troops each at the start of the game. Basically what i've found is you need to keep taking back lands you can and hope you can last long enough till they deplete them through battles.

Try to make early allies.

I can't beat them as Alba, in CK2 it was pretty balanced. You would have random host events that would send in raiders that would raid and conquer but they weren't part of any nation from what I remember.

Vikings never conquered Scotland they only settled the Islands and eventually were driven back. If it's historical do the mechanics drive back the vikings and at a giving date after they conquer the majority of England? No. Just make it balanced so people can enjoy this ♥♥♥♥.

Marry france at the start of the game. Now isles doesn’t do ♥♥♥♥.

You should also have helped Northumbria by joining their war to reduce their special troop count.

I allied France and they still declared smh. Ally northumbria against two vikings that get 10k more troops than everyone else? Big Brain...

The Isles has double the levies of French King.. Perfectly normal...

Their special troops never replenish, so you just have to whittle them down. The vikings are the braindead easy modes of ck2 and ck3 so it can be a hassle to fight them.

Make sure to eye their men at arms and build the counter. In my run I had mostly bowmen to counter their light infantry spam.

Ive conquered all of scotland ireland and most of england, had about 10k of troops and men at arms all maxed out, i managed to beat the first 10k stack although i lost some land to indepence wars in southern england a couple of months later vikings attacking again they only had 1k of troops of their own and 9k of special troops which seem to spawn any time vikings are trying to invade, its very frustrating campaign :/, especially when i had to grind it out starting with a couple of counties

DO NOT TRY to conquer Britain or at least turn of the adventures vikings have 9k permanent special army and they will attack you until you lose land

So you're saying just annihilate the vikings and the attacks should stop lol
