how do I call allies to defensive war

I can't find out how to call my allies (king of West Francia who is currently in a war, and one of my Dukes who is not at war and has 100 opinion) to war as I am being attacked by east francia for a county claim.

Any help is appreciated.

Select the ruler of that country, right click on him, "Call to War".
Will cost a bunch of prestige and they only join if the one you fight is not an ally or vasall of theirs.

The option is not there for my Duke, only for the king of west Francia. Is this how it is supposed to be? He has 1700 soldiers sitting there next county over watching me get my butt kicked, lol

Actually it looks like I can't call vassals as allies in war. Darn

Think of it this way: you’re already pulling their levies. They are sending you their farmers/men they can spare so they’re sorta automatically called but your total levy count includes their contribution.

Awesome hint, which does not tell you anything at all. I have 3 allies through marriages, I can click on their portrait as much I want there is no such option like call to war when I am attacked some stupid raiders. Also checked previously when I attacked someone else, there is no such sort of things in menu, but when you attack someone this button appears in notifications. OInly way to call them to war.

That's because you can't call allies against raiders.
You also shouldn't get mad about someone trying their best to answer someone else's question.

When you ally a vassal. Its only to guaratee that they do not join a faction against you.. Its sort of your defense from getting stabbed in the back in case you have a troublesome duke or lord to deal with.
