After reading everything there is 2 types of people who has different thoughts on character roleplay.
1. Dumb people who says "YOU ARE THE CHARACTER" it depends on who you want to be and what you want to do. So in every session or every time a new inheritor takes in, they become that inheritor and pretty much it would be the same gameplay as their previous character. Like I said Dumb. We call these people Map painters. All they know is conquest. Heard of X4? Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate.
2. Fun and Smart Roleplayer because:
- they roleplay based on their character's traits.
- they roleplay based on their character opinion of others (this feature is available in ck2)
Like someone said, if your character hates your neighbour's guts so much they want to occupey the place but could not, it does not necessarily mean that hate would transfer to your son.
What if your son became friends with the inheritor of that neighbour? Should you follow your previous hate because you hated the dude's dad when you were playing your previous character?
Having no character opinion would be so CONFUSING and it would save a lot of time organizing which my character hates and which my character likes. it adds complexity to the game. #2 is way more fun. Even in the case that my character likes this dude but I know for real as the one playing the game that that dude is a backstabbing ♥♥♥♥♥ who wants to murder my player.
We go back again to #2. Roleplaying who your character's likes and dislikes and what their traits are. If no one still get it why its important to get the opinion factor back of your own character then I am sorry to say but you are one dumb person
I'm going to admit that I didn't really want to read 52 comments arguing about what constitutes roleplaying, so it's possible someone else has already pointed this out, but I thought it was important to share in case not.
