Incest over done a bit?
I know in some very early civilisations like the Egyptians it was common among the elite and some religions like zoroastrianism used to believe in 'pure blood' but surely it wasnt this prevalent during the middle ages. Seems to me the Hapsburgs gave the middle ages a bad rep

You basically can't seduce close relatives, and certainly not marry them. Even with the lifestyle trait to supposedly remove the incest penalty, close relatives with a sane mind will almost always refuse seduction - even if your religion allows incest marriage.

There just are some random events making these relationships possible. Example i ended up playing a female queen in Ireland, and there were several events where i could have taken the option "grows closer to a romantic relationship with you" with her own sons.

Generally my long-term experience is that incest is extremely rare among NPCs as well. I played several campaigns over 100+ years with not a single case ever having been made public (these relations could still exist in secret ofc).

I have close to 400 hours in this game according to steam. With just about every single character I've played I have been propositioned by a close relative at some point at least once

By "close relative" do you mean parent/sibling, or something like uncle/cousin? Only the former was really a huge deal back in the day.

Not if you have like 500 family members before 1066.

I've never seen it in my first game of around 120 hours total when I played as an African ruler. Then I started playing catholics and... holy moly! The amount of sisters and even parents trying romance and seduction plots on my ruler was bonkers! One time I even had to end a sister-brother lovership (soulmates!) after taking over with the heir. Geez. I think the game wants to tell us something about catholics... xD

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip are second cousins once removed through King Christian IX of Denmark and third cousins through Queen Victoria.

It's 2020 and their family tree still has more loops than a crocheted blanket.

You certainly can, with the "right" religion. In my first game, I created a religion where it was no problem for rulers to marry their siblings.

I've been playing for some 350 hours. One time I had a mother/son relationship exposed that I had to shut down, and one other an uncle/niece. That's been it.

Incest is common enough in America for there to be billboards telling people to knock it off. "She's your daughter, not your date." If anything, it's underreported. CK3 is so woke.

I have never seen a Billboard talking about Incest, but then again I don't travel much and live in Florida which while being in the South isn't really the South.

Marriage and seduction are separate.

Example i started in Vestisland and tried to do the achievement where all your grandparents need to be the same.

With adamitism and everything from the seduction focus, your close kin still have the option to reject due to being family. I guess they need certain traits like lustful or arbitrary to agree, haven't checked.

All the offspring after the second gen in that game were inbreds, so i won't try that again.

Very hard to believe. I have half those hours and had to get the "more rules" mod because adultry/incest was out of control. One game my grandson and heir was sleeping around with his sister and only got caught cause of an event at a feast. So I expect a lot of incest/adultry is happening without the player realizing it.
