no, you seem to have not read my post. also its incredibly annoying when some noodle thinks they're schooling someone when actually they're speaking erroneously.
i'm not a petty king. i won the war as william the bastard for the kingdom of england. i became william the conqueror, king of england, duke of normandy, duke of essex, etc.
After doing so, i was presented with the "embrace english culture" decision, which is necessary for the norman yoke achievement.
i embraced english culture, and after doing so, while still being king of england, my duchy titles became petty kingdom titles. my guess is this is some stupid bug in the code with the game deciding that english culture duchies should have a more "english" sounding name, like when playing as french and duchies suddenly become "dauphinates"
you don't know what you're talking about. william the bastard is already middle aged at game start. there's a lot of counties in england and if not that many of your vassals take the english decision with you, that's a lot of counties to convert culture, 1 at a time. no idea where you're getting this "oh steward can run several culture jobs np" when they can only do 1 at a time and even with a high stewardship score it still takes them a few years.
to anyone that actually reads my discussion post - do you know or have any experience with these things?
i gotcha, i think its too late now in this current run to start doing that since william's about to be dead but i'll give it another go another time and just keep this 1 more casual
Doing the achievement and not caring about playing afterwards wouldn't it be better to have no counts ect completely control everything yourself and take the negative hit. Convert to English culture first then assign the converted English characters?
Just an idea i new to these titles so don't know if that would work.
that makes some sense i guess but would that mean after all my territories are converted to english the title names will revert back to being duchy, or will it still be petty kingdom?
yea i mean according to the ck3 achievement wiki this is pretty much the way it tells you to go about getting the achievement (except the last part with giving anything back) but i was hoping it could be done without gaming it like that and holding every single title. also, allegedly the new patch restricts the ability to do that "north korea strategy" (what a ridiculous name for something like this btw) although someone who has tried to do it since the patch would have to really confirm that
They should revert, AFAIK all of the titles in Britain and Ireland are Duchies under the English culture. You should also see the territory names switch to their English equivalents as you convert them too.
ok good.
I have this achievement. Make sure to only hand out titles to close family and Normans who convert their culture to English with you. The less vassals you have the easier this becomes.
These strange petty kingdom titles can be rid of by killing off all the holdout Anglo-Saxons rulers and re-distributing their territory into their proper de jure duchies under new English lordship.
There are some mechanics that also work with the English conversion decision but I don't remember the particulars. I think any Norman duke or count who holds territory in England before you use the decision convert along with you, but it's been a few weeks so I can't remember exactly.
nice. so is the only really viable way to do this in william's lifetime is by taking all the titles in england and holding them as william prior to doing the embrace english decision? is that even doable now after the patch?
