Why is China important?
I don't get all these China-lovers. Why is it important for CK? This isn't EU4 where you travel the entire world.

I played over 400 hours of CK2 in Europe and I never once got to India. So adding China would make no sense other than using up valuable CPU time that could be used to do better things like making the AI smarter.

A bigger map is not better because it is bigger.

One, India should be included because even though the Crusaders didn't interact with India, the people they were crusading against (the Muslims) did interact with India a lot. Two, China should be included because the timeline of the game includes the Mongol Empire, so without China, you cut off half of the empire and you end up having to make the Mongols cheat to be realistic (in CK2 they just generated doomstacks from nowhere).

Because China is number 1
I agree OP. A few have mentioned trade importance (silk road) and there is no argument from me in theory, but the isolationism (certainly in relation to European interaction) of China meant they weren't - at least to an huge degree -directly or politically influential to the Euro-centric/near East sphere - which is how this game is approached conceptually. The Mongols could be an emergent issue without having to include their origins. To me, interaction in the late game with the Aztecs would make more sense.

The provinces in CKII affected by the silk road bonus is - imo - was best way to include "China" as an entity and they should include that for sure. However, including the region/culture/politics of China within a game conceptually centred on "The Crusades" and the regions affected, makes little sense to me. I felt the same when they added India to CKII.

And that isn't even considering the performance problems that may occur.

I would personally like to see it added for my own interest in Chinese history... but, adding it would have some great pros and horrific cons imo.

One simple fact why China, and hell, the entire world should be included is options. I'd much rather have options than be stuck with Christians, Christians, and more Christians. Variety is what games die by nowadays.

I agree with many reply in this thread. There might not be a very accurate way to simulate the Chinese history/ goverment type due to the difference comparing to Medieval European.
why not?

if you don't want to translate this passage. you just need to look at the behinning.

While I agree that China should definitely be in the game, it should be based on real history, and not on alternate history to appease the Chinese government, which most game companies do now. By that I mean, it should show the good and bad of China and not just the good things for their people and government.

I understand the OPs point. The game is called CRUSADER KINGS... while the Chinese were definitely providing things via trade route, they didn't have any real impact on Crusader kings daily lives. However... Paradox could make a similiar game focused on China.

Crusade: lead or take part in an energetic and organized campaign concerning a social, political, or religious issue.

Why does no one know the definition the title has a double meaning, not just the fact that this was around the period of the Crusades.

If it's called Crusader kings, logically any crusader would want to spread Christianity all over the world. Including the Orient. So it should totally be added.

though contact with china faded in and out overtime, it certainly was known of and mentioned throughout history. the fabled kingdom(s) of the east were always a source of fascination, hence the success of the tales of marco polo's travels, regardless of their validity.

the romans had some contact with them, the caliphates not only directly traded with them but even waged war with them at times, and bordered their tributaries and outlying states. it is not beyond comprehension that success in the middle east would've brought the christian world into direct contact with china due to the silk road and the tributaries.

despite all of this, china would be fun for many from merely a gameplay perspective. tons of new content/features in both the operation of the state as well as the lives of the rulers... aww yeah...

China is a cultural behemoth, it deserves to be in the game and I hope the map being ripped signifies this.

even cultural behemoth is an understatement. china during this time period was epic. the song were cool dudes, and i imagine getting to play the court life first-hand as a landed character would be just awesome.
