IGN gave Imperator an 8/10 so they don't have much credibility. I'll wait for real player reviews.

There he is! Mr.

If it is not [an empty shell], will you also be the first one to point it out ? :)

Why I suspect you or Old Guy will beat me to it but I'll be right behind you. After all I'm a big fan of CK2 so maybe I'll be one of CK3.

himself!

Well, I can't fault not trusting IGN. There are lots of other reviews in, but I suppose there's merit in waiting for user reviews if those are what one trusts.

IGN reviews lol they'd play literally anything and give it a solid 7 even if it was garbage.

IGN would give a dog turd a 10/10.

Game journalists know about as much about games as grandma and grandpa these days.

With that said I'm sure CK3 will be good.

All the trolls spouting off "IGN BAD" while ignoring all the other incredible reviews it's getting.

+1. At least some of them have the decency to argue that all professional critics are untrustworthy, but I have trouble believing that not a single one of them can be trusted. Even the best games usually get one mediocre rating from someone.

Indeed.. Even us that already have preorders and want this game badly, can attest to game reviews being pointless.

91 on Metacritic, 28 reviews so far, nothing lower than an 8/10 (and there are only 3 or 4 8/10s). This is a niche genre. It would be super easy for major publications to give it lower scores. It's clearly done such a fantastic job of being accessible to new players while being deep as ever for veterans.

Side note: Metacritic, for whatever it's worth, currently ranks CK3 as the #3 Best PC Game of 2020 based on its aggregate score.

The same people saying ignore reviews (which btw I don't necessarily disagree with) are the same people who would be starting 50 threads gloating about how they didn't pre-order and all you guys are fools if the reviews had come out negative.

Net: good reviews, bad reviews, no reviews steam forums will have their troll contingent at work regardless.

The only credible way to tell if a review is solid is compare it against others. So far, it looks really good. And to be honest, I'm a bit surprised. With a game this complex getting so much positive clout, it could mean a shift in what games are completely accessible by the public at large. I hope the community shares the same sentiments.

I'm going to take professional reviews with a grain of salt because of all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ revealed over the years, but I would really like to believe that someone who professes 100 hours in CK3 and thousands in CK2 wouldn't be able to just blindly shill if it was actually hot garbage.

A good take. It might be an excellent sign in favor of their new tutorial and tooltip system. The number one barrier for CK2, I wager, was accessibility. Not everyone had the patience to learn all that needed learning. If CK3 has improved that, it's a good sign not only for CK3, but for the whole industry. It could be proof that with the right approach, even the most complex games can become reasonably accessible.
