right but if you're starting in 867 there should still be something transpiring that changes the name from kingdom of west francia into kingdom of france. for example, in ck2 when you became king of west francia as someone other than a carolingian character, the name changed from kingdom of west francia to kingdom of france.
has anyone had any experience with getting the kingdom of france from the kingdom of west francia in ck3??
probably there is decision or just random event pop
not talking about a big empire, talking about the name of a single kingdom
ok
does anyone actually know or have experience with getting the kingdom of france from the kingdom of west francia in ck3?? because its not happening like in ck2 where there was a decision/event pop for the name change to occur
i can't possibly be the only 1 on this forum to have gone for this achievement and wanted to continue as king of france rather than king of west francia.
can you somehow confirm this? it seems incredibly stupid and ridiculous that if you start in 867 and successfully pry away the kingdom of west francia title from the carolingians that it then stays the kingdom of west francia the rest of the game, especially if your culture is already french instead of just frankish. the duchies that i personally hold are called dauphinates, a distinctly post-frankish term.
admittedly while historically speaking the kings of france didn't start to call themselves "king of france" until philip II, (end of the 12th century) it is generally accepted that "west francia" ended and "france" began with hugh capet (end of the 10th century).
even in the description of the achievement for kings to the seventh generation (which doesn't make sense for a number of reasons, one being that the picture of the achievement is of a queen rather than a king. another glaring one being that this prophecy was for hugh capet, not "eudes capet." eudes/aka odo I of france was a member of the robertian dynasty and thus would not ever have been known in history as "eudes capet." hugh capet wasn't even directly descended from eudes/odo, but from eudes/odo's brother robert I of france) it says "lead your dynasty to rule the kingdom of france." so how is it possible to have the kingdom of france if you're stuck with the kingdom of west francia? i got the achievement (since it pops as soon as you usurp/recreate kingdom of west francia title as "eudes") but i'd like to play on - not as king of west francia - but as king of france.
how to do this?
does anyone know?
ok. i already said that the kings of france didn't start calling themselves kings of france until the end of the 12th century, which is obviously the reign of philip augustus.
from the election of philip's ancestor hugh capet in 987 until philip, they called themselves king of the franks. (again, note here that its not king of the west franks, but king of the franks)
the entity of france actually was a thing and did exist before then even if it wasn't precisely called that by contemporaries, since historians commonly agree (as i also said) that the political entity of "west francia" ended and "france" began when hugh capet became king, since "west francia" was a carolingian construct and hugh capet was not a carolingian, at least not through male line descent.
i know french history. i don't need you to try and teach me something i already know. your post is pretty much entirely irrelevant to my question, which is has anyone had the kingdom of west francia become the kingdom of france in ck3, especially considering the achievement for kings to the seventh generation specifically says lead your dynasty to rule the kingdom of FRANCE.
also, in ck2, when you did take the kingdom of west francia from a carolingian, an event would pop saying that you could formally change the name to kingdom of france. i want to know if anyone has experienced that as well at some point in ck3.
you didn't answer any of these questions, because you obviously don't know. its really annoying when you're trying to get information about something and a bunch of idiots hop on adding some irrelevance and not actually answering the question.
i ask again: does anyone actually know how to get the kingdom of france out of the kingdom of west francia in ck3? does one have to wait a few generations for the event to pop, is there an event or option, is this a mechanic that the devs forgot to add and might it come later.
does anyone actually know...????
