General rules for marrying off knights and courtiers?
Trying to decide if and how i should marry off my courtiers. I generally try and keep it the same religion if i have no one available in my realm.

The real important question I have is- if I marry two courtiers in my court does it matter if it's matrilineal or not? I read that people think that's the better option but i do not know why.

Also does that rule carry over if im finding a spouse from a different realm? Like if i marry one of my knights in ireland to a nice french lady, does it matter if its matrilineal or not?

And my last question is their stats. Generally i try to marry off knights and courtiers with the highest level of learning, that way I have plentiful educators in my court. BUT if im arranging a marriage with my steward, do i want his wife to have a high stewardship rating as well?

Thanks for any feedback

"Marry off", i would interpret as the person leaving your court.

There seems to be a cap on court size though, when "chance for children: none" starts showing for all marriages. So after a while, i try to mostly restrict those marriages to family members. And get rid of the old/crazy/useless people. Also dismissing guests who are just potential plotters or cannibals.

General rule for marrying off Courtiers...

Don't?

I'm managing an Empire over here, I don't generally care about them

If you marry your daughters to high prowess people, they can become permanent knights/champions in your court. The income that is provided allows them to create a family. If you find a guest with a decent claim you could press, by all means, recruit them, marry them into your family, and press that claim.

In terms of marrying matrilineally, use that if you want to get a male into your court from another court. I personally marry my daughters matrilineally. More dynasty members equates to more renown, and eventually I turn those guys into counts.

I marry my daughter to suitable Courtiers, but that feels like I'm marrying people in my family. Dynasty building and such

I felt he meant marrying completely unrelated courtiers in your court

If you marry a male courtier matrilinally to someone outside your court they will move to that foreign court. The opposite is true for female courtiers.

Matrilinial marriage of female courtiers is about the only solid way of recruiting high stat councilors

Also Breeding Genius into your Dynasty, then only using your Dynasty as Vassals
