There seems to be a cap on court size though, when "chance for children: none" starts showing for all marriages. So after a while, i try to mostly restrict those marriages to family members. And get rid of the old/crazy/useless people. Also dismissing guests who are just potential plotters or cannibals.

In terms of marrying matrilineally, use that if you want to get a male into your court from another court. I personally marry my daughters matrilineally. More dynasty members equates to more renown, and eventually I turn those guys into counts.

If you marry a male courtier matrilinally to someone outside your court they will move to that foreign court. The opposite is true for female courtiers.
Matrilinial marriage of female courtiers is about the only solid way of recruiting high stat councilors
