and how can I find who is rightful and give it to them?

Depends on your rank.

If you are King then all within your land i.e that which highlights when you click on the Kingdom icon. Then you are the rightful liege to all within that kingdom.

If you are Emperor of France and have vassalage of the Kingdom of Leon you would not be their 'rightful' liege as the Kingdom of Leon is part of the Spanish Empire.

So to find out which title belongs to which liege check out the kingdom and empire tier trees. The easiest way is to click on the heraldry icon for the county and work your way up.

What is your kingdom/empire?

Basically anything outside of what it shows as de jure at the beginning of the game is considered not de jure part of your kingdom/empire.

If I form Kingdom of Africa for example, anything within the Kingdom of Egypt is not de jure part of Africa. Duchies in Iberia are not de jure part of it. If you form Kingdom of England i'd imagine Ireland and Scotland are not de jure parts of England unless you form Empire of Britannia.

Counts - Dukes - Kings - Emperors

Look at the title description(click on it) to see what lower titles are considered it's de jure subordinants.

From in game description, you need to hold direct de jure duchy to be de jure liedge of a county, but it seems that you will be considered one if you hold de jure kingdom or empire of county de jure chain (aka duchy is not created or held by someone else).

In the right bottom corner are buttons for map modes, you wan't the DeJure map to find out what are your rightful vassals.

If you are a Duke/Duchess, you are only the rightful liege for counts inside your DeJure territory of your duchies.
If your are a King/Queen, you are only the rightful liege for Dukes/Duchesses inside your DeJure Kingdom.
Empire -> only for Kings/Queens inside.

The malus is a bit lowered if you are somewhat rightful -> Your are not the direct rightful liege but your actual title is the DeJure title above it.

Keep in mind that the DeJure map can change - but very slowly due to longterm ownership and use of diplomatic advisor.

"De Jure" means that which you can legally claim. Doesn't mean you are holding on to it right now.

If in doubt what areas you have a De Jure claim on you can do one of two things.
1) Click a title you hold and look at what parts of the title are inside the realm, which are not and which are yet to be created. This is great for seeing what you need to focus on but it will not tell you exactly where it is.
2) Change your map overlay to any of the de jure types (counties, dukedoms, kingdoms and empires are available). This is great for planning an attack but is dificult to get details on.

I was Earl of some place in England but have just become a Duke and gained a heap of land. Just having a hard time working out what of that land I'm rightful liege to and what I'm not. I've fabricated claims on a few places, I take it that means I can claim them but it still doesn't make me rightful liege?
