there is no way for anybody but the devs to tell you at this point
"What are the proportions of heterosexuals, homosexuals, bisexuals and asexuals in the default setting ?
► Currently 89%, 5%, 5%, 1%."
"Once the game has launched, how to become ♥♥♥♥/bi/a/sexual?
► The only way you can affect a character's sexuality is if you're playing a child as they discover theirs and you get a specific event that lets you "choose"."
"Can we start as a ♥♥♥♥/bi/a/sexual character?
► You can start as a character that's not heterosexual, yes! There are some on game-start."

Yes because PDX Is trying to turn the world gay and we all know that if we are 'forced' to play gay characters in video games we will all suddenly become gay... its scientifically proven this happens, I mean get with the times dude
Well, they are Swedish and that is pretty much the meme about Sweden these days. PristineHades54 was just asking if it was a choice or a automated game decision though, just like whether the children turn out to be sons or daughters. No need to be personally offended.
This
No they were baiting don't be disingenuous. In CK2 im currently playing one of the Monarch Journey scenarios and my current ruler is a possessed homosexual, I had no option to choose either of those states they just happened to me, so if he were truly worried about choice he'd have hard noped out of CK2 a long time ago.
Let me make it clear, anybody who whinges over gay people in video games tends to be an idiot, but in this case, it's a fair question to ask.
I'm aware certain events can fire in chlidhood (rare but possible) and even rarer in adulthood that sort of allow you to pick to a degree but its very unusual and normally characters tend be rolled that way by the game early and thats that. Aside from the satanic bug there is as far as Im aware no way of removing it at all. To classify this as the game giving people a choice is pushing it, you are just as likely to be stuck playing a gay or straight character and never be able to influence it (which was my point)
As related to the OP the dev diary they speak about goes into a fair amount of detail about sexuality and how it is now a system rather than just a single trait so I think its fair to assume there will be all sorts of gameplay and story elements related to it or else why would they expand it so much? In the picture in question its clear that is the end of an event chain presumably one which like in CK2 allowed choices along the way which results in that outcome. It was just screenied to show that bisexuality is now a thing.
I take your point this might have been a genuine question, but I doubt it, I think you are being generous
But homosexuality has always existed, go read about ancient rome lol.
But the church finding out you were doing it with the same sex during those days lead to torture and death. If the game is to maintain historical accuracy in any way, being gay should most certainly be a very rough life. Also babies aren't made through same sex relationships and you need heirs to keep your bloodline going lol.
What about acient rome? Homosexual were treated like trash in acient rome too. Men who were on the receveing end of the D were treated like ♥♥♥♥♥ (not the other men inserting the thing for some reason). That's not unique to 'the church'.

Gay is gay. At least it wasn't like this:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_in_medieval_Europe
But the more I read about this the more I think the reason homosexuality was treated so badly in medieval times in the first place was due to the whole bloodlines thing keeping the family and bloodlines going required a man and woman lol.
Cuz ya know in medieval Europe the idea was to impose the worst punishment to scare people into listening to them which is why torture was so commonplace.
