Merit points not raising town rank bar

Hey so i have noticed that after i got to town rank C that the only merit points that are raising the town rank bar are when i donate to the museum. Any of the errands that i do or any festival points that i get are recorded in my log but the town rank bar doesn't increase at all. I should have at least like over 600 points by now but i only have like 90. It is frustrating because donating only gives you 3 points, so if it keeps happening where thats the only thing giving points it is going to take me forever to get to rank B. Also i play this game on the steam deck. Thank you.

Hello there! The Merit points and Town Rank points are separate things. Merit point allows you to earn points by contributing to the community. We can confirm that this isn't a bug!

The tracking page (activity log) is a location to view how &/when we have earned Merit.

Okay thank you for confirming that. However then if the merit points don't go towards town rank then how do you increase the town rank? I have already cleaned the ocean fully so it seems the only thing going towards the town rank right now are things i donate to the museum and right now i don't have anymore main quests to do either. I believe that i am in year 3 of summer also. Thank you.

Hello! If you're referring to the remaining points to fulfill your Town Rank A points, you will be able to fulfill them in the Coral Island future update. Thank you for your patience and understanding! 🙂
