Can't enter mermaid shop

I already cleared the ocean an got a mermaid tail but I can't enter the general store in the mermaid kingdom.

You have to wait until the next day.

The game calculates and makes all changes during the overnight save process. So even though you have your tail, the game doesn't officially recognize that until you sleep.
