Unlock panda/bamboo area

I've heard that some players have unlocked the area behind the hot springs where the pandas are. Is this true, and if so, how do you do this?

complete enough offerings at the altars and it opens up. You might not be able to do it anymore though. I believe they patched out the exploit to complete offerings with duplicates.

The tea leaves are a crop you can grow in winter.

you can complete enough offerings for the panda area without any exploits.

Okay, I have completed all the offerings at the first altar, and two of them are complete at the second. (should this be enough for the panda area?)

The others I can't do yet as I have not been able to catch the silver sardine, the atlas moth, or a silver koi. The giant mudskipper just breaks my line as soon as I hook one. Has anyone caught one of these? I have a third level rod, and if I hook what I think must be the mudskipper, it just breaks my line without me even pulling on it. I get a couple seconds of reeling/struggle and then it goes all the way up to red/broken even if I don't reel at all.

I had to devote an entire in-game month to catching a silver Sardine. I caught mine at the dock where you first arrive in the Chicken Boat. Cast your rod out just below the wooden ticket machine hut that's a few yards above where the boat moors up. I caught over 300 basic Sardines before I got my first silver quality one. It requires lots of perseverance and lots of bait.
Have you checked the fandom Wiki, for the correct location, season, weather and time of day for the various critters you need?

you need to complete any 4 out of six offerings on the second altar. i did those and just stopped trying to catch a silver star koi because it's a morning fish and i have stuff to do in mornings. got lucky with a silver sardine - caught it quite fast. very annoying trying to catch those after devs blocked skills from progressing. and sea critters is unfulfillable currently.

Yes, I've researched where and when to fish for certain things. But wow, I admire your perseverance. 300 sardines is just a ridiculous amount of time devoted to a single altar offering. Too much if you ask me.
