Crops vs Produce?

What is the difference? Which should I upgrade first in the lab...seeds or seedlings? It says seeds produce crops, but seedlings produce "produce"...

Upgrade the one at the top

The first one is crops, and that will upgrade all the regular crop seeds you can plant.

The second one is for seedlings, and that's the fruit plants.

The third is for saplings, that's the fruit trees.

The last one is hay, and that increases the quality of the animal food.

All upgrades will affect everything that's already planted, and any seeds/seedlings/saplings/hay you have in storage as well.
