Chopping the Log behind Paul's house

When I try to use an axe (silver grade) to chop the log behind Paul's house, it doesn't work (as in, it doesn't make the hitting sound or anything). Do I need gold/osmium, or is it buggy?

I chopped it with a bronze axe, but the quest didn't actually 'complete' in the quest journal until a couple days later

Quick question, if I may: It's the log to the right of his house, right? Or am I trying to chop the wrong one? It tells me to use an axe, and I used silver. It acts as though I'm trying to hit nothing, you know? The axe just hits the ground. I'll feel so silly if I'm hitting the wrong thing. :D

Yes, it's to the right of the house and behind it slightly and kinda hard to see. I also got the same impression that I wasn't hitting anything but I kept swinging at it from slightly different angles and suddenly it was gone.

How bizarre! So I tried again after exiting the game completely, and no can do! I must have hit it fifty times, and no luck...so odd. It must be a bug.

I think i remember you dont 'chop' it, you just interact with it. The quest dissappeared after i did that, then talked to paul THEN got a reward

It was a button prompt for me with a axe equipped. Like left click when in proper position and poof its gone.
Has grayed like done but not complete.

You need to go and talk to him after you remove it. Requiring a button prompt to remove it instead of chopping it like any other log is pretty dumb though.

I bet it doesn't do the normal animation because it's a quest. But the way they set it up is very confusing.

No matter where I stand I am unable to chop the log (osmium axe) it keeps saying I need an axe equipped

you don´t need an axe, you can stand before the log and the button (on controller its X) will prompt... the quest doesn´t require an axe.. it´s the lying log right side from pauls house
