Leveling up in Farming

Hello,
I am in Spring 2. I can't seem to level up my farming skill. I have been at 6 forever. I harvest my crops. I have been shipping them. Although, I don't have much in the bronze quality it's mostly higher. Any tips for leveling up farming. I would like to get the aging barrel

No one bothers to tell you that you should not use sprinklers as they do not give farming points. Sprinklers are a trap. You have to water everything yourself. lol...

You level up by watering and harvesting. You can harvest by hand or scythe. You do not get XP for watering with sprinklers, or with any of the auto attachments.

If you are in spring, I recommend planting a bunch of sugar, since it regrows every day. Water and harvest every day.

You also gain XP for tilling the soil, so if you really wanted you could just go to town digging up your farm.

O. I do have sprinklers I use.

Auto-Petters and Auto-Harvesters fall into the 'Trap Zone'.

It kinda makes sense that you don't gain experience when machinery is doing all the work, but it's never stated as such.

Insect traps are the reverse. They do give experience from taking out the insects. But as others have stated, alot of items are exp thieves.

I leveled up by using around 40x sprinklers to create a MASSIVE farm. I harvest by hand. I am at level 10 farming.

I had a similarly problem-free ride up the leveling curve for farming. I don't find it fun to water crops, so I automated that, and in the process I was able to build a farm so large that manual harvesting brought in far more XP than the XP for watering+harvesting a much smaller plot of farmed land.
