If you don't want to spend the time finding the way down, you can place down a rope for an immediate exit. You can also use explosives to find the hole faster.
The Rope would be a valid solution, but not while a single rope costs 200 Stone. That resource requirement means you have very few of them, and you already need those for the final descent in each shaft, when you have to go down 10 floors instead of just five. If they made the rope a lot cheaper it would become a workable solution, yes. But not having the mechanic in the first place is still the better option.
maybe in the lategame, but during the part of the game where it actually matters, as you make your way naturally through the mine, you dont have that kind of cash lying around, unless you're running a farm that is way more massive than mine.
The ore nodes are dynamic, you'll get more ore the farther down you go. On the upper floors it's common to have little to no nodes at all. But keep an eye out for the floor cracks, you'll get ore from them as well.
This is my X new game... i know how this work and I KNOW it's random like hell. Got game when on day 8 i was on level 20 floor wichout dynamite. Some floor i got on 2-3 pickaxe hit...
i actually don't mind the way the actual ore distribution is done. you get more or less the same amount of ore as in SDV here, it's just distributed differently. You can actually go through the floors way faster in Coral Island, because the ore rocks are always in a single cluster on the floor, and always next to an enemy. so once you find the cluster or have killed all enemies, you know you're done on that floor. and as Piper said, the deeper you go the more ore you find. the first ten levels are really sparse, but after that you find good amounts per floor.
That actually makes the whole thing more frutrating to me. they went over the mine and changed the ore mechanic to something i actually like better, but kept the terrible random exit thing. And then they went over the mine again, added those cool mystery rocks...and STILL kept the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ random exit.
