Please change the advance floor mechanic in the mine
As the title says, the current mechanic of just breaking rocks until one randomly generates the exit is incredibly frustrating and dated. Probably the only reason it's like that is that Stardew did it this way, but you innovated so much over the old Formulas, why keep this in? Please replace it with ANY kind of mechanic that gives the player at least some agency. It's just so incredibly frustrating when you have to break off an expedition on the second floor because you broke 50 rocks and there's still no exit.

Suggestion: When the player enters a floor, immidiately generate the exit under a random Rock. every time the Player breaks a Rock, have some kind of Display point to where the Exit actually is (Shockwave, Sonar, what have you). Or even just a colored indicator how far away the exit is. ANYTHING but pure, random chance.

Stardew did it that way because that's how Harvest Moon did it.

If you don't want to spend the time finding the way down, you can place down a rope for an immediate exit. You can also use explosives to find the hole faster.

Don't really care who originally came up with the mechanic. I just saw it in Stardew first caus e never played any HM. Doesn't change the point that it's antiquated and needs overhaul.

The Rope would be a valid solution, but not while a single rope costs 200 Stone. That resource requirement means you have very few of them, and you already need those for the final descent in each shaft, when you have to go down 10 floors instead of just five. If they made the rope a lot cheaper it would become a workable solution, yes. But not having the mechanic in the first place is still the better option.

Its a tricky balance, make the rope too cheap, peeps will just spam it and guess what... run out of stone and HAVE to mine the stones. Too expensive and peeps never use it, honestly I have like 3k stone with no better use than decor and ropes so personally I think it's fine.
Rope also only cost 1K each at the BoS shop. Easy enough to get 10 if you just want to drop from floor 30-40 in a hurry. If you don't have enough stones to make them.

maybe in the lategame, but during the part of the game where it actually matters, as you make your way naturally through the mine, you dont have that kind of cash lying around, unless you're running a farm that is way more massive than mine.

Try and enjoy the process I say, take your time, do 5 levels and mix up your gameplay. I bought the game on this sale and already have finished all the mines, it's really not a long time commitment and you will miss it if you speed through.
Yea... change this... today i start new game, got day when you going to mine... on floor 1 i mine all node and last give me entrance to another level... same with 3rd floor... now im on level 5 and got 0, realy 0 copper ore nod. Now got level 11 and from 1-11 i got 12 copper ore... and lost 15 this sugar rood. Yea... great balance and random...

The ore nodes are dynamic, you'll get more ore the farther down you go. On the upper floors it's common to have little to no nodes at all. But keep an eye out for the floor cracks, you'll get ore from them as well.

Maybe it wouldn't be as frustrating if there weren't SO many rocks on every floor or so few ore nodes. Or if the boxes actually gave you something. Mining in Coral Island is boring and tedious in a way that SDV isn't because the mining in SDV actually values your time. I've gone through 3+ levels of the mine with zero ore and just 10,000 (hyperbolic) rocks. That is a sucky mining experience, especially early game.

i actually don't mind the way the actual ore distribution is done. you get more or less the same amount of ore as in SDV here, it's just distributed differently. You can actually go through the floors way faster in Coral Island, because the ore rocks are always in a single cluster on the floor, and always next to an enemy. so once you find the cluster or have killed all enemies, you know you're done on that floor. and as Piper said, the deeper you go the more ore you find. the first ten levels are really sparse, but after that you find good amounts per floor.

That actually makes the whole thing more frutrating to me. they went over the mine and changed the ore mechanic to something i actually like better, but kept the terrible random exit thing. And then they went over the mine again, added those cool mystery rocks...and STILL kept the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ random exit.

Today i start again game from day when you enter mine, got 18 candy stick, from 2 day don't sell nothing for eating, got enaught flowers to fill almost 2x full bar and finish on level 9... no more energy and item to restore energy. 2 time got floor when use 2-3 time pickaxe (the smallest room) mostly time 60-70% (2 time, big room minning all stone, got on last stone exit) stone in room before get exit. Yea... fun play when... i remember some time ago when play get to lower level mine was much easy then now... bad luck for me but still insane amount of food and floor 9... but today i got 13 ore from 9 floor

I have no issues finding holes in the mines. Now cave of sorrows bit more trickier in finding holes. Having the pick axe upgraded as you go through each mine helps a lot. Most times I can do 5-8 levels taking my time. I only push for levels 30-40. Also what skills you pick can help out. Some times killing few monsters can help out in finding holes.

It's all random... i start again this 5th day and from floor 1-10 i just spend 2 full bar energy and 3 candy, got 25 ore... sooo it's random like hell

Ropes are usefull but I like to CABUUUUMMM! Sometimes I'll go to a lower mine just to get material for the bombs. They can find the exit for me or give me the rocks to craft a rope, it's a non-expensive way to get through.
