How do you save in this game?
Twice I've quit the game after completing the first quest and no save on exit? No way to save manually either? What is that lol I have to redo everything from the beginning each time...

Oh ok, thanks, I wasn't expecting that! Tough if I have to leave the game quickly for one reason or another, it's crazy...

worst case scenario you have to replay the current day.

Not crazy saving by sleeping is how most these type games do it. It is standard.

Yeah save on exit is probably one of the most requested things that people have been asking for. There's a topic on the subject that's been going on for a while, with hundreds of replies talking about this. (it's been quiet for the last couple weeks though.) Common consensus is that many want it but it's not going to happen.

Well, I don't see the point... for me it's a gameplay mechanic for hardcore gamers in a chill game. In a survival game, I can understand, but here...

it simplifies the saving process, don't need to save the player's location data or the state of every single npc's location or the time of day or the contents of any machines or you've talked to npc's, taken care of your animals, watered your plants, the contents of the shipping box. everything is already calculated and reset to the start of the day state.

Ok, yes, I imagine it's easier to do, just as it's also easier not to have a save system at all... but I also imagine it's still possible... We played a lot of Disney Dreamlight Valley with my girlfriend, a game of the same type, and it saves all the time... Other than that, the game seems great otherwise.

And there are many others that save when you sleep. Stardew Valley, Sun Haven, My Time at Portia, My Time at Sandrock, etc.

It is standard with these type of games to save upon sleep.

My Time at Sandrock is save any time - because fans were vocal about it after My Time at Portia and the devs listened to what their customers wanted.

Ah ok thought it was same system as portia. Have not played sandrock yet.

Normally I'm all for the 'save only when sleep' or 'save in a diary at specific place' because that opens the game to make some things RNG based without players saving right before and going again save and repeat for best outcome.

HOWEVER. And a big BIG HOWEVER here.

However, for this game were devs time and again just create bugs that makes you lose all day because the game breaks right before saving on sleep, they SHOULD make a 'save at any time'. I've lost count of how many times for DIFERENT bugs the game just made me lost all day's worth progress. Once even making me repeat the same day 4 times before I gave up and stoped playing until they fixed it.

Ehh, half correct. It was added WAY, WAY, WAY later in the games development (me and my wife back their projects and get in on alphas).

That aside, using sleep to mark the save point isn't just for "ease" on the development teams end. There are a few quirks you can do with changing how you save that would have to be ironed out, it's already bad enough you can do things like "Fast Tele" in Muliplayer on MToS if you know where the cut-offs are.

tbh i find it a dumb standard and always have. it's always annoying. Story of Seasons and Harvest Moon stopped doing it, but so many farming games still have it. It's not really a full "standard" any more, only about half of the farm games seem to do it. The OGs farm simulator devs learned better already, it's a shame these new games won't start with it in mind.

i've grown so increasingly frustrated with this type of save system. I've had a special interest (i'm autistic) in games of this type (farming + social npcs) since I was 8... so sorry if I sound jaded, it's just that i've been dealing with these silly sleep save systems for 20 years now. it's gotten to the point that now I'm scared to buy any farming game without looking the save system up first. I only have this game cuz humble bundle gave me it and it looked neat....

it's a nice and cute game and I appreciate it's message and diversity, it's just that i genuinely don't understand why this messed up saved system type is so common

at least stardew has the "save anywhere" mod... wish more games could have mods like that at least

I wouldn't even mind if I had to go to a few specific spots to save, like checkpoints. Or if I could only save every 6 in-game hours? It'd be something

that just makes me not want to play it, tbh, if a crash or bug is gonna make me replay the whole day (which since i'm on 50% time speed is like, nearly an hour iirc right?)
