Not crazy saving by sleeping is how most these type games do it. It is standard.
Well, I don't see the point... for me it's a gameplay mechanic for hardcore gamers in a chill game. In a survival game, I can understand, but here...
And there are many others that save when you sleep. Stardew Valley, Sun Haven, My Time at Portia, My Time at Sandrock, etc.
It is standard with these type of games to save upon sleep.
Ah ok thought it was same system as portia. Have not played sandrock yet.
HOWEVER. And a big BIG HOWEVER here.
However, for this game were devs time and again just create bugs that makes you lose all day because the game breaks right before saving on sleep, they SHOULD make a 'save at any time'. I've lost count of how many times for DIFERENT bugs the game just made me lost all day's worth progress. Once even making me repeat the same day 4 times before I gave up and stoped playing until they fixed it.
Ehh, half correct. It was added WAY, WAY, WAY later in the games development (me and my wife back their projects and get in on alphas).
That aside, using sleep to mark the save point isn't just for "ease" on the development teams end. There are a few quirks you can do with changing how you save that would have to be ironed out, it's already bad enough you can do things like "Fast Tele" in Muliplayer on MToS if you know where the cut-offs are.
i've grown so increasingly frustrated with this type of save system. I've had a special interest (i'm autistic) in games of this type (farming + social npcs) since I was 8... so sorry if I sound jaded, it's just that i've been dealing with these silly sleep save systems for 20 years now. it's gotten to the point that now I'm scared to buy any farming game without looking the save system up first. I only have this game cuz humble bundle gave me it and it looked neat....
it's a nice and cute game and I appreciate it's message and diversity, it's just that i genuinely don't understand why this messed up saved system type is so common
at least stardew has the "save anywhere" mod... wish more games could have mods like that at least
I wouldn't even mind if I had to go to a few specific spots to save, like checkpoints. Or if I could only save every 6 in-game hours? It'd be something
