This may be a shock to you, but there can be more than one game of the same genre.
Yes, Stardew copied many ideas from Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons and what not. True. But Coral Island straight out copied basically everything from Stardew 1 to 1, even the idea for the story/motivation to build your farm.
The museum? The mine? The "Community Center" aka Shrine. I mean, come on.
It's not a bad thing to copy good stuff, but outright reskinning a game is something else^^
Text games were copies of text games. There where pong clones, Mario clones and the list goes on....
… you haven’t even played it lmfao. How are you even allowed to comment on it if you haven’t even tried it? Honestly there should be a rule where you must have at least an hour of playtime on a game before running to the discussion boards to talk sh1t on a game that JUST came out days ago. It is not a stardew reskin. It’s not an animal crossing reskin. This game deserves praise, this game wasn’t made by a huge established company, it was crowdfunded. In less than 36 hours I might add. Yes, games can have things in common idk why y’all aren’t complaining about NFS vs Forza??? Or Super Smash Bros vs Mortal Kombat. Or any FPS I mean really how different are they all down to their core? If you simplify something so much like y’all are doing, then yeah it can be “the same thing” as *any* game 🤷🏻♀️ You’re watering it down to make it comparable to games in its own genre.
Don't know if you mean me or the other dude, but I played to summer on the gamepass version. I don't have to own the game on steam to be able to talk about it.
Probably progressed through more game mechanics than plenty other people.
Yes, every major game mechanic is a straight 1 to 1 copy, they are not even trying to hide it.
The only really new thing adding to the genre is the diving stuff. But than, it's just harvesting stuff with a sickle underwater^^
I espacially said: copying stuff is not bad. I don't get why people get so defensive about something, if they feel somebody said something negative.
If you think copying good stuff is negative, it's a you problem.
I enjoy the game, but it absoluety is a 90% straight copy with 3D models, a different setting (Island vs temperate/hilly village) and 1 addiotional feature.
Is it bad? No.
Is it reinventing the wheel and deserving praise? Not really.
Learn to read. Like seriously. But whatever. Bath in your fanboy tears and defend a game I didn't even negatively critisize.
I'm out, this game discussion board here is full of defensive kids jumping on everyone saying something they feel offended by. Just wow.
