Can't complete quest: Deliver 5 star fruit to Antonio

After successfuly completing several of the quests from sams board, I now have one that asks me to deliver 5 star fruit to Antonio. After waiting ages for 5 of them to grow and then waiting another 4 days for Antonio to appear in town, now the quest is due tomorrow but the game doesn't allow me to complete it. First when I had the item in hand, the game only gave me the option to gift it (instead of the usual "give quest item"). Then I gifted him something else to block that option and now I can't interact with him at all.

The 5 starfruits have to be of the same quality. Example: 5x bronze quality will work while 4x bronze quality and 1x gold quality will not.

Is that specific to star fruit only? Because I remember in a previous quest where 2 items were requested, I was able to give one bronze and one normal.

For me it isn't starfruite specific, It's the same for all errands. I use the Slime of Transmutation to get enough produce of the same quality if needed.
