Auto sort button in a chest seems random to me. Any ideas?

I've never been able to understand the logic used by the auto sort button in a chest.

It doesn't appear to be based on price, and it's not alphabetical. It will sort items into similar crops and produce. For instance, so that all bananas are in a line of increasing value etc.

Maybe it's based alphabetically on the Indonesian spelling for stuff? Surely not though...

Does anyone know the algorithm the button uses? I'd love to know.

It just puts it in the same order as they are in the journal.

That makes sense, because the journal's listing order is all jumbled up as well...

So it's a fairly meh feature in fact.

The way indexing works in Coral Island needs some fine tuning from Stairway to improve it's usefulness. Probably never happen though
