I'm not sure why people aren't understanding this, but they CAN'T give a date or a target for something they have no way of knowing. 1.1 is being tested. When testing is finished, it will be released. A lot of the beta is smooth and works great. Some of the beta is buggy still. Some of the beta badly needs some rebalancing. When that is done, it will release.
Well that's easy: it's totally fine to not know your project's update releasing date, but if you promised to deliver it in a period of time while failed to keep your promises too often, being asked is natural.
But they've never 'promised to deliver it in a period of time'. That's why they don't give dates. The only date they've ever given was for 1.0 release, and it released when they said it would. So it's not like they have a history of not delivering updates 'on time'.
They promised to release the full game in November last year, they didn't do it, then the missing content was supposed to be added in the first half of this year, again not met.
They promised to release 1.0, with a road map showing exactly what would be in 1.0, and they did. If for some reason people ignored that, and thought they would be or should be getting more than what they showed in the road map, that's on them.
Some users might have made up such a date, but the devs never did.
The official statement for v1.1 is:
(emphasis mine)
The News Section has all the good intel.
They had previously said they had a target of the first half of the year for 1.1. But having a target doesn't mean 'WE WILL RELEASE BY THE END OF JUNE' like some people seem to have translated. It isn't a promised date. This beta is huge and is taking longer to test than they expected.
Indie games, nothing. AAA games even have that same problem.
Tell me three Legend of Zelda games that ever released right on the original target date. They're always getting delayed.
Join the beta and help test, if you want it to go faster.
I don't have any problem with waiting. I am not upset that they failed to meet their target. Disappointed sure, but not upset. My bluntness is a just refusal to sugarcoat things. As I said, best to settle in.
