Red King Arowana
I'm beginning to think this stupid fish is impossible to get, or bugged. Anyone else having issues with it?

You have 6 in-game days to potentially get it

of those 6 in game days, you need to wait for a Rainy/Windy day

And then have 6 in game hours to try and catch it

i've been reloading the same day over and over (because it's the last one possible to catch it, and a Windy day) in year 3, and over and over i just can't catch the thing

Tried all 3 mines it's possible to catch it in, and just have not had luck reloading the same day over and over lol

All the other Legendary fish I've caught without too much hassle, but this one? this one feels bugged almost

You can reload multiple days and try for better luck with the weather. Today's weather seems to be preset when the game saves the day before.

Go to the settings menu and use the option to show backups. That'll enable you to load the game from the first day the fish is available. Then try again for better weather.

The red king arowana isn't only available six hours, it is "afternoon and evening" so it should be from 12 PM till 2 AM (12:00 till 02:00).

Try finding it on e.g. wind mine level 5 or fire mine level 5. You might need a better rod and stop reeling it in the moment it begins to fight back. That fish fights a lot.

You might also want to eat a bit of fishing proficiency food before going fishing that day, sashimi [Chef knife; 1 fish + 1 wasabi] is pretty easy to do.

I have the highest tier fishing rod and I think the red king arowana was the last fish I caught. It is a tough one. Good luck.

This one is driving me crazy. I've waited year after year, but it never rains (or is windy) on those particular few days!
Please. Just please. I only need *one*. T.T

Turn on "show backups". Go back a few days and play those again.

"Afternoon" is 12-3:50. "Evening" is 4-5:50. That is basically six hours. "Night" is 6pm and after.

I appreciate the advice, but that is several seasons ago now for me. I've got the rest of summer to go until it is fall again because I've waited, and in the meantime I've progressed everything else so that I'm basically down to two fossils and one artefact besides this one fish. Not rewinding that.
But as this fall comes around I'll keep an eye on things and if it is STILL not rainy or windy, I'll try to figure out how to make sense out of the files in that folder, and how to play from an earlier one.

I still think there needs to be a change in how that particular fish is caught. Either keep the short number of days and remove the weather requirement, which I'd prefer personally, or make it available all days in fall that are rainy or windy. It would still be pretty hard to get that way, but not as impossible as it seems now.

"Fish appearances are instead divided into four times of day:
Morning during 06:00–11:50 (6:00AM-11:50AM),
Afternoon during 12:00–15:50 (12:00PM-3:50PM),
Evening during 16:00–17:50 (4:00PM-5:50PM),
and Night during 18:00–01:50 (6PM-1:50AM). "

Ah, you're right. Thanks for the correction.

Just go to the settings menu and activate the option to show backup. That'll give you a new option on the loading screen and the game will give you something like the last 7-10 in-game days worth of save files to choose from.

I had exactly the same issue. Had to savescum multiple days to get a missing mineral and same deal the next day in order to get the two dino pieces I was missing.

I just caught mine today (5/4/2024) in wind mines on Fall 23rd, year 1, gold rod. I think it was level 10? On the right side (it was a floor with two stripes of water on either side). Figured I would chime in to verify that this fish is not bugged at this time. I didn't realize it was so difficult, I guess I lucked out

Yeah, this fish is definitely a problem. Wife had no windy/rainy days for several years. She gets 100% collection, though, so she had already planned to keep going. A moderator(dev?) responded to another thread about it and said they were looking into adjusting weather randomness. It may be that they force at least 1 windy/rainy day during the 1 week period this fish is available. Fall in general seems to lack rainy days. I know I've had several Falls with 0 rain, but lucked out with wind.
