Have a completely empty field that's not tilled. Then try planting the tree. If you can't do that, it means that you have to hoe the tile in which to plant it.
After the tree is completely grown it is possible to place stuff closer to it.
Fruit trees need to be on untilled land and fruit plants need to be on tilled land.
Fruit trees do not like to touch the edges of the farm or greenhouse. That might be where that 5x5 figure is coming from, but it's not entirely accurate. Just make sure your 3x3 tree area is one row away from the edge of the farm or greenhouse.
Once the tree is planted, you can decorate all around it and it will still grow normally. You can even use the architect desk to move tiles under the fruit trees, or plant other crops under them if you like. Nothing prevents the tree from growing. If it planted, you're good to go.
Correct, the ASH doesn't work on trees, since they do not need to be watered and cannot be fertilized. They also do not auto collect, you'll need to get out there and kick those trees yourself.
I have no idea what the wiki is talking about, but if it's the fandom wiki, just ignore everything it says. It's fan run and not up to date.
You don't have to wait for the tree to be fully grown to decorate around it. I threw up fencing and threw down grass tile as soon as they were planted.
