How does it work??

Do I have to put the raw ingredients in the top space and the artisan product made from them on the bottom? Because I barely won against daddy's boy with intergalactic quality veggies/fruits and products while he had 3 black truffles and 3 truffle oil bottles of gold/silver quality. I'm confused.

The placement is not important. As I understand it, the important things are:
- the sell price of the items you're displaying
- the quality of those items
- the diversity of the displayed items, each time you display an item from a new one of the categories the mayor's letter mentions, you get an extra 6 points for having a diverse display.

Lange llama yarn, white truffle oil, large peacock feather, titan arum flower, fermented goat cheese wheel and a pineapple. All in osmium quality.

At my point in the game I've bought all of Ling's quality upgrades from the lab so it is a lot easier to get high quality produce.

Beluga guy often have displays with low diversity. So he probably only got 2x6 or 3x6 of the possible diversity points for his display. And as you said, his products were only gold or silver quality, your quality was higher

Thank you! I have all the upgrades from the lab, so I get a lot of great produce. Everything not osmium goes to the selling chest. It was just super weird to me bc for example, the first year's fest I lost when he had bronze quality cauliflower and cauliflower juice. My produce was much better, but I didn't have any artisan items and he wiped the floor with me lmao. Now I also had white truffle oil and some stinky cheese, even had a large quail century egg, all osmium. And the difference between us was just around 30 points... If his stuff gets any better, I won't stand a chance.

I think he paid off that legendary farmer guy who judges our displays XD

you can do it with just 6 osmium pineapples or melons if you have them. any osmium item that sells for more than 400 (base not including the 15% from skills) will get you 25 points and each different category you make gives an additional 6 points. So I did one one pineapple, 4 pineapple juices and a large sheeps wool (all osmium) and that was 168 points right there (150 for quality and 18 for three categories), which is enough to win any year.
