better wait for version 1.3, so come back in a year or two
I did have 1 save, but not sure if it was the beta version or the 1.0 version. it was in nov 2023.
The beta some players are talking about are you can get a code to try the features slated to be released in the 1.1 update coming at some point after they're happy with the beta testing. So if you opt to join the beta branch, that's a separate save from your main save data.
Honestly, it depends on what you want in a farming game, if it's good, or not.
Some pros:
- You can walk around the entire exterior of the map with no loading screens (though you will see a loading symbol in the corner.)
- You can upgrade the tools to full power, if you choose to go mining, to make the actions quicker.
- There's a good variety of seeds to grow, even if you don't force the Town Rank part of the game.
- There's a metric tonne of decorations, though they might not be to everyone's taste, to decorate the huge plot of land that is the farm.
- There's sprinklers to water your crops, and you can eventually make upgrades that auto-seed your field, if you want.
- Can distract yourself with fishing, bug catching and sea creature capturing.
- You may want to watch some videos, to see if the underwater trash and kelp harvesting are for you, since not everyone likes underwater effects.
The cons are:
- the storylines aren't quite finished yet, but the developers are still working on the game, so it isn't abandonware, though to be honest the stories so far aren't that great, so not having the story complete isn't a super bad thing.
- the halloween festival references costumes, but the NPCs and you aren't wearing any yet
- if you make a long haired character, all the hats make you look bald, which is annoying if you want to opt to wear hats at any point
- it is a time sink, if you're a completionist, so you have to make the call on how much real time to spend on it
- it does still crash a lot, tanking your progress for the day if it crashes before the "Save when Sleeping" mechanic.....which hopefully since they plan to port to the Switch, they definitely need to make performance improvements to the game, or else the Switch port will be worse than the xBox port.
