I feel like I'll just be doomed with a better dating mechanic. On the one hand, I always wind up marrying the characters most like my rl spouses (I'm *consistent*, okay???), but on the other hand, the people on this island are so interesting and adorable and ahhhh. Like, I *never* thought I'd wind up following a path with Mark, but -- !!
Lol. I know what you mean about Mark. I saw somewhere that he was voted the most desirable townie. Honestly, he's not my type and I won't be marrying him. But I think they made him irresistible by making him so dismissive and irritating that players want to find his soft spots. (the animal mush thing helps) People tend to want the unattainable, and Mark tries really hard to be just that. Plus, he keeps calling you 'garden rake" in that endearingly offensive way. Hahaha. I'm going to date him mostly to see his cut scenes, as I have with a few others. If you've seen all the ones with the little dog, it's too cute.
I am a complete *sucker* for people who treat animals like the *other* people they are, and holy crap, they got me bad with the little dog cut scenes. Big, wet, woobie eyes over here as Mark and I suffered for that wee little puppers. I am *weak*. Rafael is still my number one, because dorky and kind = the combo I've been rl married to for 20 years and then some, but but but!
Just look at them! Every time Raj *smiles* at me...
You are so cute! Lol Rafael is indeed sweet. He is one of my "boyfriends", and I always preferred him to Pablo, who was a bit of a show off. Second most sad but hilarious thing in this game for me was Mark's whole agonizing plot with that little dog, when shortly after he rescued her, I adopted her. Every time he was tearing around the forest trying to find her, I kept wanting my character to be able to tell him "No really, she's fine! She's at my house being spoiled every day!". But I guess that just had to play out. ;)
(The first most sad/hilarious moment in the game was the final scene with Ben, Funbucket and the Goddess. If you haven't seen it yet, I'm sure you know Funbucket is sick and has been for a while. The moment Ben meets the Goddess the look on his face is like "OMG all the mushrooms have come home to roost and I'm hallucinating! It's awesome!" ) Hahaha.
Anyway, my predicament is between Raj and Theo. They are both exactly my type, and I no matter which one I talk to, I want to marry him. Raj says really sweet things every now and then, and Theo keeps telling me that he's my guy. What's a girl to do?
I was torn between Rafael and Mark, but Mark turned out to be a jerk, while Rafael is sweet all the time <3 I just love that big guy
Oh man, *Ben*. I've been following his scenes with Funbucket closely, and I can't wait to see more with him, because he is *exactly* every capital-S Stoner I've been rolling (and... *rolling*) with since the flipping 90s. That man absolutely has the best music collection known to man, and treats all of his health ailments -- including, like, *tooth* decay -- with various kinds of weed. Bless him.
And yeah, I *thought* Pablo was going to be my guy when I *first* started playing -- he is, by far, one of the *prettiest* NPCs (to me) I've ever seen in a farming sim -- but personality-wise... he just started to make me tired after a while, lol. Though when he starts to stay home with Raf and hang out on the couch with you and him and some snacks? Awwww.
Raj is the other one who fills my "prettiest NPC EVER" bingo card. My flipping JAYSUS. That person looks like a South Asian Santiago Cabrera! I don't know if you ever watched BBC Musketeers when he had that look, but *faints*. I haven't triggered enough of their cut scenes, yet, though.
Theo wasn't *huge* for me, but I've just started triggering his mom's-piano cut scenes, and suddenly my heart is Full. Also, his personality is totally growing on me. He's so *chill* most of the time, and it's all about having seen some **** and made it through the other side. I do NOT get the people who say the writing in this game is too juvenile. It's a *cozy* game, not an immature game.
Noah is ALSO one of the "OOF SO PRETTEH" characters, but as a U.S. resident in this day and age... let's just say I am WARY of people who start talking excitedly about conspiracy theories, lol. I still give him all the gnocchi he wants, though.
Well this is turning into a hella long thread. :) I will have to look up Cabrera to see the the similarities. Raj reminds me of Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bay in the old Mummy movies. I loved the first two movies in that series. Campy but great. And Ardeth was, well, I would have followed him into any tent he wanted. Lol. Yes, Raj is very sweet and romantic if you get the hearts up and visit them at the coffee shop a lot, you can see their cut scenes, which are honestly a bit heart breaking. Poor Raj is trying so hard to build up their business.
I don't think the writing in this game is consistently great. It's not juvenile except in a few instances. Some of it is quite good and creative. But there are still a lot of continuity issues and grammar/spelling errors. Some conversations make no sense. Some start with the sentence they should have ended with. There's a cut scene with Nina, Raj and I think Wakuu that was completely left field and I had no idea what they were talking about. So the devs have work to do. Happy hunting.
♥♥♥♥ is the title of this thread so damn hostile?
