I understood that you were disappointed but I didn't understand what you were expecting in terms of content?
Did you think this game would be like "The Sims"? Because it's more like "My Time At Portia" / "My Time At Sandrock".
I haven't got married yet, as I'm waiting for the Merfolk update.
I've played both this and My Time at Sandrock. Have married in both games and can say that Coral Island doesn't even come close to the marriage, romance or dating mechanics available in MTaS. OP is correct the marriage in Coral Island is bare bones at best.
Essentially your spouse has a few lines of marriage dialogue each day and that's it. You have no other interaction with them (hugs, etc). They don't help on the farm, no dates, just hang around until they do their daily routine, come home and go to bed. Now contrast that with MTaS, where you can assign your spouse daily chores, ask them to cook you food, go on regular dates, have special date mini quests, interact with them (hugs, kiss, etc), have them follow you (hand holding), if they're a fighter type ( certain characters) they'll assist in battles. Not Sims level marriage but miles better than Coral Island's vapid attempt.
This game is nothing like my time at Sandrock.. and as far as I can tell the Marriage in Sandrock is way better. Your spouse can help out around your workshop constantly, or if you prefer to have your lovely spouse follow you everywhere you go.. you have that option
Doesn't feel like your spouse is just there..
