Theo's 10 heart event and the general heart events issue

I am finding the whole "heart event cut scenes" scenario very annoying. It's fine when you get a message or a conversation with an NPC that tells you to be at a certain place at a certain time, but so many of these scenes just "happen" when you are lucky enough to randomly run into an area of town at the right time, in the right season, in the right weather... etc.

I am at 10 hearts with Theo and Raj. Fortunately, I managed to get all the Raj cut scenes by spending a lot of time at his coffee shop, so I received the date invitation in the mail and at least got that far with Raj.

With Theo, I had the playing guitar scene, and several scenes with his mom's piano. But I must have missed some of them because I've been at 10 hearts for a while now and no invitation to dinner in my mailbox. The last one I remember, we had dragged the piano from the recycling center and he was working to repair it. I don't know if I gave him the wood or not. But now I'm stuck and can't seem to trigger anything else, even though I wander by his house every day and talk to him wherever he happens to be. The really odd thing is that when I find him playing it at the community center, the message I get when I inspect it is that it appears pretty broken down.

Having these events be SO random makes it difficult to pursue these townies to a romance state let alone get married. I'm trying to decide between Raj and Theo and I'd at least like to get to the final romance cut scene with Theo.

After reading over the summary of heart events, I think I am missing the last one or two. I never saw the piano in good condition while he was working on it, and the one he plays at the community center is still broken down. I'm in winter Year 2 day 17 now, I think I'll see if a spring morning will trigger the last of the cut scenes of him repairing the piano when I get there. I may not be passing by his home at the right time.

I will try to get you my save file as well. Thanks for your response. :)

This problem has resolved on its own. It turned out I had to wait for winter to be over, then go the Theo's house on sunny mornings between 8 and noon. This triggered further cut scenes of him repairing the piano. Eventually, after also stopping by the community center to see him play it, he showed up at my character's door in the morning for the dinner invitation.

I would never have figured this out without online help. I am usually tending my farm and all my animals in the mornings, so I don't often wander the island in the mornings. Certainly not near his home.

I have mixed feelings about the randomness of obtaining cut scenes with characters the player is attempting to romance. It's not so important with the other townies as you'll bungle into them eventually I guess. But it would be really helpful if there was some direction once you've given a townie the locket on how to proceed. Some note from Theo asking my character to stop by his place in the morning to see the piano I helped move from the recycling center. Any hint at what to do to progress the relationship.

I think this is why there are so many questions to the devs here saying that cut scenes don't happen or players are wondering if their relationship quest is broken, when maybe all that's happening is they haven't been at the right place at the right time in the right season in the right weather to trigger a scene.
