Crawler trap not working [solved]

Crafted the crawler trap a while back and have been keeping it near the Se Pulu waypoint. However every time I've checked it, there's nothing, even if I wait a few days between checks. I've also crafted crawler scent and added it to the trap four different times, but every time I've checked, there's nothing. I thought the bait was supposed to guarantee a catch, but I still haven't been able get anything. Do these not work near a waypoint or something? Do I need to report a bug?

Perhaps no critters in that specific area, try moving it somewhere else
