Mayoral election

At one point in the game, our dear pufferfish aunt Karen wants to overthrow the mayor, but I wonder if the whole thing is already fully present in the game.
I've already found a few scenes with Sam, Ling, Frank, Dinda, Pablo, but somehow it doesn't go any further.
I search all the shops and houses every day to get further, but I can't find anything..

Do any of you know anything about it?
or was the whole thing only half brought into the game again?

Can someone please let us know where we have to go to progress the Pufferfish story line? There is no official quest for it. I have seen Karen's 'Mayor' events at Blacksmith, Carpenter, Tavern, General store & Lab. Not sure where to go next?

I'm confused as to what you're searching for when you go into everyone's shops & houses. I've also seen those cut scenes and none of them suggested (to me anyway) that there was 'something' to find.

What town rank are you? More scenes open with each level.

Then you should definitely be seeing the mayor cut scenes.

I have seen some of the cutscenes, but they have stopped and not sure when the election is going to occur or how to prompt it. I guess I'll just work on getting to A-rank and hope it happens.

I have only seen the cutscene for the Lab, Blacksmith, Carpenter, General Store, and Tavern as well. I'm working on getting my rank up to B to see what happens.

I too have been struggling with triggering these cut scenes and my town is B rank. Every week or so, I go around and hit the various houses and shops that I pretty much never go to (since I normally have no reason to go to some of them), and have not trigger more than what others have posted here.

I guess Karen does not really care so much about this election as she lets on. Though she should come pay me a visit, I am so frustrated with certain towns folk that I would not mind suggesting their establishments to Karen for industrialization to get my vote.

There is an ending to the Karen/Pufferfish story. Just keep going.

can someone list the locations to find her? I'm worried about getting locked out of the storyline once I reach rank A (currently B)

I've never tried to find Karen (although I assume she's at the Pufferfish building}. But I reached town rank A a couple days ago and there is an end to the Karen problem but I don't know how to put the answer in 'spoiler' mode.

A few days after reaching town rank A...
The Pufferfish building soon gets a bunch of huge vines growing though it and they all leave and abandon the project. A few of the employees/NPCs were still standing around outside with packed boxes the last time I checked a few in-game days ago. I don't know if they've left by now.
