Animals Not Eating or Gaining Hearts

My barn and coop animals aren’t eating the hay nor are they gaining any hearts. I’ve tried restarting the game and reloading but they don’t eat any of the hay and won’t gain hearts despite me petting them every day. Is this a known bug? It’s kind of annoying as without them gaining hearts I won’t be able to win any of the pet day festivities nor will I be able to get better products.

Are you letting them outside every day? They will find food outside and not eat the hay that day if you do. Also their mood improves when they go outside.

Yes I was, it was a bug with the gamepass version. After reinstalling it I got it working.
