It is terribly dispiriting to be so limited in the player's housing when all the houses around town are amazing. Maybe down the road when the game's more stable they'll take a look at redesigning the house upgrades.
I would totes want kids but the idea of it feeling forced for others and the whole lay out thing is just n o - not everyone wants kids, the layout of the whole upgrades need changing please. However the spouse having their own area to chill / work from is cute imo -
Seeing the houses around the island and coming back to my crap shack - a bit of a bummer lol ;-;
Having a predetermined floorplan probably makes the child AI much much easier to program. I hope it will be possible to allow us the freedom described by OP, but also realize it may not be feasible. Fingers crossed that it will happen!! ...bathroom facilities too. :)
The thing I dislike most about the current version is that if you do want a spouse, but not kids, you're left with two black voids in your house. It looks ridiculous. It's also superweird to have a spousal room that's just there if you haven't a spouse yet or simply don't want one. The stairs are also very inconveniently placed here.
House looks most decent right now after second upgrade (with the kitchen). So if you just want to stick on your own, I'd never upgrade the house ever again.
In role playing mode, I can have a lovely time with all my besties, without being disloyal to my spouse. Perfick
So you have something to spend money on. Right now I have A LOT of money and I don't know what to do with it.
The house is less of a house and more of a nightmare. I regret upgrading it to 3. I don't want a spouse or kids. I just want to play farmer, not mom. The whole house seems rather pointless as well. I'd much rather decorate it myself than have a design forced on me with a bunch of equipment that has no function other than to show me that I have it. The cookbook and the store do a good enough job of telling me what I have and don't have.
Allowing us to decorate unused rooms would be much better than looking at blanks as well. I would also much rather NOT see the entries to other rooms that don't exist.
Also, my new dog goes upstairs a lot and stares into the big empty black holes in the walls where the kids would eventually be. It's as if she's waiting for them. Lol Those holes shouldn't exist until you add the kid's rooms. Looks like you have entrances into dark and dangerous places in your house.
