Are Legendary fish totals capped per season?

My experience trying to catch some Legendary Giant Stingray fish in the Forest leads me to believe the devs may have capped off the total number of Legendary fish you can catch in any given season.

As they have a very small window in which they spawn, I wanted to catch a few for my Fish Pond. So on the first day of opportunity, I went to the Forest at 1200 and cast my Osmium Fishing Pole. Within an hour, I caught three gold quality Stingrays. Great I thought, I'll be back tomorrow for some more.

However, every day since, not even a nibble. Nada. Zero bites. Every other fish that spawns in that location was caught, but no more Giant Stingrays.

This makes me wonder if three Legendary fish is the ceiling per season, and no matter how hard you try, you can't catch any more till the following year.

Any of you peeps out there know the answer?

I had the same feeling there is some cap while trying to catch a Osmium Hammerhead. Fished the entire day and never got more then 2 bites from them, trying on other days always gave me a maximum of 2 never more.

Thinking the same. I will generally catch two or three on the first attempt rather easily, and then never again. Bait, no bait, doesn't matter.

i dont think so, i get 5 morai eel in 1 season. you just need to catch 2 each anyway, just breed them to get more

I think so, I caught only 2 Golden Gars on Jungle River and I only catch common fish and trash afterwards, so i decided to breed them even though 2 is already enough, 1 for temple offering and the other for museum donation

I don't think the Moray Eel is "Legendary", so the spawns are probably not capped

The 5 ultimate top-tier Legendary fish are Giant Stingray, Giant Sea Bass, Green Sawfish, Great White Shark and Hammerhead Shark. Sell price at osmium quality is $1690. The Fandom Wiki calls it "Legendary", so you're right to call it that, but it's not at the top of the tree price-wise
