This is basically single player stardew.
I just bought the game today, and so far it's identical to Stardew but with better graphics and different townies, it's even the same pattern, quests, and way things works, I feel like I'm playing Stardew all over again. I do love Stardew but I played it so much got sick of it. So I hope this branches away from it later on. But yeah the mines are identical with the elevators, they were closed at the beginning just like Stardew. Jojo mart, but a different name. The museum with donations, the shipping been, and way relationships work with gifting.

Kids have no idea that Stardew is word for word Harvest Moon. They always make these posts and it just makes them look silly.

Like Stardew "ripped off" Harvest Moon (or as they are better known around here these days "Story of Seasons"), ConcernedApe even said that he was 'heavily inspired' by those.

Cozy farm sim is a genre these days, but suggesting STV was somehow the first is just plain wrong.

Well yes but no. Actually, while carbon copied SDV they "forgot" to copy best parts of it: very clever and well thought of economy system and overall money balance. 90% of SDV success is due to that very economy is very suitable for both casuals AND minmaxers at the same time. For CI....... they've been meticoulously ruining economy since the 0.1 version. Totally killed cooking, crops are crap regardless of what blind supporters say: most part of 2023 best money making strat in farming sim game was... MINING and selling osmium ore. Oh well.

I really hope Devs will finally compose their senses and start making substantial changes, otherwise game wont live much past exiting EA - especially with SDV 1.6 coming VERY soon, and most of the palyer base will naturally migrate back from messy broken CI towards polished SDV with extra content, basilion of mods and very sane DEV.

It's different, harvest moon is still different than stardew, you apparently haven't played this game much when I say identical I mean it, I'm not trolling I'm being honest. It feels like I'm playing Stardew remastered. I've played all the farming games and none of them copied another farming game basically to the T like this one did.

Funny I have played at least another game with a museum and mines with elevators recently, which wasn't either SDV or Coral Island. There was a corporate dragon as Main Issue tho, not a corporation.

Anyhow, not the point. If you feel like this is too much of a carbon copy, that's fair. I prefer Coral Island over SDV, if I compare them together.

The one thing that is the main difference here, is the whole 'Coral' part of Coral Island tho. There is a whole lot underwater, with merfolk and everything.

yeah the scuba is different, haven't done that, and I said so far, I haven't gotten far into it, but i mean there's even a hot spring that is closed and opens up the same season stardew does. All i said was I literally feel like I'm playing a carbon copy of stardew right now and hope it branches away from it the more I play.

I mean, coming to your grandparents farm that you visited as a kid, a cut scene with the mayor and the carpenter when you first come to the farm, monsters in the mines and finding the way down on each level, a goddess you need to heal the land to help, an evil corporation trying to take over the town, all of that was Harvest Moon before it was Stardew. HM even had mermaids, although of course you couldn't become one yourself. Same starting crops, same festivals (pet race, hot pot, swimming), I literally don't understand how SD fans can't see this. Originally the giants had the same role as harvest sprites, but that's been changed over the last couple of years.

Interestingly, Yasuhiro Wada (the creator of Harvest Moon) actually liked Stardew Valley, praising CA for capturing the vision he (Wada) had had all those years ago.
He and ConcernedApe actually both did an interview together.

Maybe these devs will catch his attention too?

Hot spring opens with offerings, not by season. And HM had hot springs as well.

Of course, everyone knows Leia the mermaid.

But only the OG HM fans remember Marla. :lunar2019grinningpig:

Something I wish we still had is the Kappa. I loved him and his family. And I loved yeeting cucumbers into the lake. But it kind of makes sense, being an Indonesian game and not a Japanese one. I do love learning about Indonesian lore, though.

Yeah but harvest moon was awful, I hated it, the gameplay and controls sucked. I def didn't think I was playing a carbon copy of Stardew, this I def feel like I am.

Stardew is successful because of the modding community.

I feel like I am playing stardew but with all the qol additions I wanted and some I never knew I always wanted....lol. It follows a very similar formula, for sure, but that formula is fun and so far I am enjoying it immensely even though I literally just played through Stardew Valley again recently.

The familiarity makes the game very approachable and fun and I can skip a lot of the tutorial stuff because of the similarities.

Is this harry potter, because there's a troll in the dungeon.
