you cant divorce, its bad for a game to add divorce as a feature especially when its a cozy farming game for all ages

Provide i link with proof of what you are saying. Most farming simulation give you a divorce option. In most farming simulation games divorce resets things to make it like you never got married in the 1st and your children just disappear

One of the NPCs is a divorcee but the game makes no mention of it existing as a mechanic. I tried looking around but couldn't find anything.

The idea of divorce and child custody in games like these is a veritable a can of worms. Your children getting erased from history just because you divorced your partner is a bit problematic, but it makes sense from a technical standpoint because it prevents the MC from filling the game with their offspring, some of which would probably have nowhere to go.

You don't have to engage in divorce if you don't want to, but telling everyone they cannot divorce simply because it makes you uncomfortable is cringe.

The developers never said either way whether we can get divorced or not. There are a lot of mechanics in the game that the developers never revealed and that is because they need to keep a few things secret until toden the 1.0 version of the game releases so that way people have things to discover for themselves. I'm sure now that the game released and the NDA has lifted I'm sure that it won't be long before people make videos answering people's questions or until people post answers on steam discussions.

pretty sure i saw the exact same topic on "My time at Sandrock" forums... why the obsession with divorce and child custody ? i've been divorced irl and had to battle for years for my child, i don't need that trash experience ever again. i don't understand how some people have fun with that.

Because this is a game and not real life? You can go ahead and not divorce in this game if you dont want to - thats the beauty of it. Let people play the game how they want.

Anyway as to OP's question:

I dont know if anyone has gotten far enough yet to check out that mechanic. I'm sure there are people who speed-run the game though and will be able to share the knowledge/details of how divorce mechanics do or do not work. I would try following the Discord rather than the Steam forums, i feel its alot more active.
You can also try checking the wiki here: https://coralisland.fandom.com/wiki/Coral_Island_Wiki

I know some fans are pretty fast at keeping it up to date.

If you make a game where you can improve the lives of others you should also be able to make them worse. I want developers to spend just as much time crafting stories of joy and love, as they do trauma and psychological turmoil. Usually in videogames harming others means just killing them, but in a life simulator I should be able to manipulate, gaslight, and scam in a rich and engaging manner.

The point of being able to get divorced in a game is so that way you don't have to start an entire new if you decide that you want to marry someone else. That is why other similar games such as Stardew Valley have divorce as an option
