Upgraded barn and the chest beside it vanished

So I was finally able to upgrade my barn and I think it was the day it completed the chest that was next to it outside just vanished totally. Shouldn't something like that move rather than vanish? It had all my wool in it including the big one that I guess I REALLY should have taken to the altars right away like I normally do.

hmm have you tried to logout and login back to the game? It might help. And I remember I had similar situation at the very beginning when they released the game to early access... I lost chest and something from decor. So now I place things a bit away from the barn and it works.

Yeah that was the 1st thing I tried.

This bug has been reported before and, in most cases, the item involved (chest, temperature machine, paths, etc.) is invisible rather than missing. Try going to the spot where you put the chest and hitting it with a pickaxe. If it doesn't pop off of the ground and end up in your inventory, it might actually be gone or you might not be hitting the right spot.

I tried this with the temperature machines in my barn and coop after they were upgraded and found both of them using this method.
