Problem with the Tree-Planting Festival

I've never played the festivals before, so I am not familiar with the way they are supposed to work. I attended the tree planting festival, which met at the farm, went to the caverns, and then took a boat to... somewhere else. When we got there I looked for information about what we were supposed to do. Everyone was just standing around chit-chatting and making a big social event out of it. No one was doing anything related to tree planting. So I walked all over the area and talked to about 40 people (including Connor) and nothing ever started, so eventually I left.

Obviously, the festival did not get 'done.' First, it would have helped to have some information (from inside the game) about how to start things off. It would have helped if arriving at the festival would have started it - that is OBVIOUSLY why we were there, so why does there have to be multiple triggers for it?

The worst part is that every time I go to sleep and wake up, I get a message to go talk to Connor to start the festival, but it is not possible to start it now. If you miss the festival, or mess it up, the festival should either restart from scratch automatically, or it should vanish until next year, instead of continuing to alert me about a festival that no longer exists because it is too late to do it. This is a very annoying problem.

There is a pamphlet down right for any festival, press that and you get a map over the festival area showing you what you can interact with, marked with numbered circles and a description on the bottom for what the different numbers are.

The reason it doesn't start right away is because every person you talk with during a festival raises your affection with them, and several festivals also have activities you can do. So the main event is up to you to start.

Also as with any game, especially of this kind, you can always look it up on the Wiki when you don't get something, the answer is probably there.

Yeah. The pamphlet pointed to the spot where the actual event was to take place. Went there, but nothing going on. No way to interact with the saplings, and none of the NPCs wanted to talk about the actual purpose we were supposedly there for.

Honestly, I would rather cut off my right hand than to come into these forums full of trolls and jerks. This forum tends to not be as bad as most, but I'd still rather walk 60 miles than post in here. So yeah, I did the wiki - no help there. I posted a bazillion variations of the topic in search (outside of Steam - Steam community is rarely any help with a game), but nothing there either.

So my post was intended as a heads up for the devs - they are the only ones who can fix the problem. Whether I did it right or wrong is irrelevant: the problem is that if the quest is messed up, it keeps firing off each day. That's a bug. So I reported it. Don't waste your breath suggesting Discord. I will NEVER, EVER use Discord for any purpose whatsoever.
