Mod support is still a work in progress!
Right now, we're working on the Multiplayer feature, and this means we're tweaking a lot of parts of the code. Once multiplayer is done, we will have more information for Mod support and we will share the information with you!
Thank you kindly for this insight and update! ♥
Also mods are difficult, needs a lot of planning and a lot of preparation including refactoring the base code to allow for new information to be added either at runtime or after runtime.
Also adding more base code (multiplayer) and then refactoring all to allow modding can take years and while they are still adding content it takes way more for them to develop content than for players to consume it.
Modding would have helped this in a big way, will the game still be going on strong with a good player base in 1 year or 2?
In 4 months it went from 15k daily players to around 4k. Then it started to stabilize at around 3k daily players.
Will they keep playing for 2 years, will the studio keep going?
This is where modding helps, tons of games with modding became incredibly popular THANKS to the mods, they lasted a whole lot longer thanks to the mods.
Haven't played in a long while and, most likely, will not player ever again unless mod support comes out.
Does it need to be mentioned again? They told us "Once multiplayer is done, we will have more information for Mod support" and multiplayer isn't done.
Because it's still a wish from a lot of people and there hasn't been much news to it.
Mostly cause they're trying to not overextend on their estimates.
The Feb 2024 update in the News section gave the currently up-to-date roadmap, detailing everything up to v1.3.
It's almost guaranteed that 1.3 won't be the final big update, but that's far enough into the future that they're not going to show all of their cards right now.
