Geode Rarity
has anyone else had any issues with the rarity of geode drops, regardless of the elemental mine shaft they mine in? i read in an older discussion that some players were concerned a recent update nerfed geode drop rates, and that the pickaxe enchantment for "rare drop" increase broke the system, and some recommended removing the enchantment to increase geode drop-rate from nearly non-existent to like 1%. however im finding that i'll completely clear 6 lower levels and still only have 4 geodes to show for it, and this is increasingly frustrating, as i literally only have one more legendary gem to get (the elusive red beryl), and without having a decent geode drop rate, consistently grinding in the mines is just dragging on and on and on. i've sent in feedback to the devs, but im curious how many other players this is affecting....

*i do want to add that i did remove the enchantments on my pickaxe, however that barely had an effect. just made it possible to actually get SOME geodes

I suspect that your choice to remove the enchantments was the best move, because your results are far better than my experience

that's what ive seen with other players. i'm sorry :/ id make sure you're reporting your experience too via their feedback option during the pause screen, and/or their discord/email. they need to know how big of an issue this is - it's genuinely affected my enjoyment of the game.

I'm also experiencing this. I'll get dozens of fossils before finding a single geode.
Making the gem offerings near impossible to complete

I ultimately got so frustrated with the geode drop rate and needing only the red beryl for the temple offering and museum that I built up to about 30 earth geodes and mystery geodes combined and then took them to the blacksmith to open them, didn't get the red beryl, and quit the game. Restarted that day and re-opened the geodes I had accumulated (since what is inside them changes each time they're opened), and repeated until I got the red beryl. It only took about 4 or 5 restarts of the day to have one of the geodes opened have the red beryl. Not fun, but ultimately less frustrating than constantly grinding for geodes.

I too had a hell of a time finding 2 red beryls. Didn't know you could reload the game to get different results from geodes.
Does that work with chests too?

That's a great idea... Tedious mining all day only to get 1 (sometimes none) or 2 geodes.
Also, I very much regret not choosing the 100% geode chance skill.
The rare rocks only ever produces ore which I have plenty of

Yes! It works with geodes, fossils, and the chests/coffers! Saved me with one of the fossils too.

I'm currently doing exactly this. After realising the earth geode was the best way to get the red beryl, I decided to grind the earth mine. After a few visits, I've got 18 so far. I plan to continue grinding till I've got about 40 earth geodes, then do the blacksmith "rinse and repeat" until the red beryl pops. dull but hopefully better in the long run. I want the red beryl for the slime replicator reward at the alter.

I actually came on here to complain about just that. I need the rocks to finish the temple, but the drop rate is abysmal. Seeing as how I am not the only one with the issue, I guess I'll set the game aside until they fix this, among other things. *looking at you relationship screen*

It was much better in earlier builds. You could go through a 5-floor run and have at least a dozen, and I'd left with around 30 before. I would agree that that's prob too high of a drop rate so I understand why the changed it, but it's been way over-corrected. It needs to be a better in between from where it was to where it is.

I finally got the Red Beryl I needed. Did exactly what I planned, and went to the blacksmith straight from home with 60 earth geodes and 35 mystery geodes. First roll of the dice got me nothing. Quit to the menu and restarted the day. Second time of asking, I got 3 Red Beryls and another rare gem. Very happy bunny right now... :parksmiley::parksmiley::parksmiley:

I thought exactly the same thing. I actually trashed a bunch of geodes early on because I thought they were more common. Oops!

I ended up getting the red beryl from a gem node in the end.

Still a very enjoyable game and great 1.0 release, so am excited to see improvements and updates down the line
