What is the purpose of cooking now?
Previously it was not only a way to make food for recovery but also to make some more money than by just selling the ingredients. Now, I get less money than the crops are worth and less recovery value in most instances and it costs me stamina to make. For example, if we take sugarcane, a cheap crop that sells for only 20g and turn it into a smoothie, it now sells for only 15g. Moreover, it goes from over 50 recovery to just 60 at the base form. Use silver and you lose recovery value.

At this point, cooking only costs you so why have like fifty recipes that just make my stuff worse? Is there something I am missing here?

Many of the recipes give buffs for different activities and they're also great for gifts.

I use sugar for compost, since it grows every day.

From what I see the buffs aren't that huge but I guess better than nothing and as far as gifts go, favourite items are best saved for birthdays unless easy and plentiful as flowers are free and almost universally liked, so it seems a huge waste to me if that is all it does now. I mean sure you shouldn't be getting sixfold returns just for cooking like before so a nerf was expected, but why would you get less money? I mean a restaurant does not buy a raw steak for ten dollars, cook it, and then sell it for seven. That would make no sense. There has to be value for the effort or in this case stamina usage. Hopefully they will rethink the prices as they continue to balance the game.

The using sugar for compost must be new since at least the Spring update, since it was just trash before as far as I recall. (Haven't played since feedback update)

Anyway, thanks for the help!

Nope, you've been able to use (almost) any organic item in the composter for several updates now, at least the last 6 months. 1 organic = 5 compost.

I never stress about loved gifts, everyone gets either green smoothie or fruit smoothies. I've got everyone maxed out with those.

I grill insects, it's my main form of energy and health regeneration. But i use the ones that don't sell for much.

Yeah, the devs REALLY need to rethink the "nerf" they gave cooked/prepared food items both in terms of money earned and stamina recovery.

And definitely need to make it so it DOESN'T cost us any stamina to do so!

grilling insects is insanely good, no need for it to sell for gold, it's basically unlimited stamina/health. Some cooking should be sellable for decent gold, but the rub is you have to balance something that is instant vs something that takes multiple days to get like jam/honey. It's a weird balance.

Wow never mind my previous complaint. I just found a glitch with the cooking that makes it so ridiculously OP that is basically infinite free stamina. (Although, outside of the usefulness of this glitch, my complaints of the cooking system still stand) Note I am only posting it here because it is still a glitch that should be fixed.

So when cooking bugs into bug jerky using the recipe, you do not select which bugs to use. Instead the game just randomly picks which from your inventory it will consume. This leads to a massive glitch for tons of free extra product.

Step 1: Place a stack of multiple bugs in your bag, say a single stack of 10 pine sphinxes.
Step 2: Add in multiple other varieties of bugs of just one each
Step 3: Go to cooking and select the bug jerky recipe
Step 4: Notice the slider at the bottom that lets you create multiple dishes at a time? It will let you choose up to 10 because of that stack of ten pine sphinxes. Slide it to 10.
Step 5: Cook the 10. (It will cost 100 stamina so make sure you have enough)
Step 6: You will receive 10 bug jerkys, HOWEVER... This is where the glitch kicks in.

At this point the game will randomly select which bug to use up. It should logically be the 10 stack since you cooked ten, but that isn't what necessarily happens. If it picks any other bug then only that one disappears, yet you still have the ten jerkys. Now you can cook again, and since you still have the ten stack in your bag you can do it again. Adjust the slider to 10 again and cook again (another 100 stamina needed). If it does not pick the ten stack again then you get another 10 jerkys for the cost of one bug. You can do this until it picks the ten stack. After that it is just a matter of building up your insect supply again to get a large size stack.

So if you have a ten stack and then ten more single bugs, that means you could potentially get up to 110 bug jerkys for the cost of twenty bugs.

I stopped playing months ago, at that time I'd sell those insects jerky that they would give me a decent amount of money, since insects are free. Sad to know they're not worth the stamina anymore.

Actually the bug jerky is one of the only things still good for stamina (that does not require many ingredients). It gives 130. The selling price has dropped drastically to only 25G though, making stamina the ONLY thing it is good for. Eating all these bugs, I feel like I am playing IXION.
