I haven't gotten any truffles at all from my pig, I'm not even sure where they appear.
I got an aging barrel in the mail after the update from the guy who does the farm show. Not sure what the requirements are to get it, though.
Llama, peacock, and luwaks aren't in the game yet.
I haven't found that starfish yet, but I did find several of the pom pom crabs. I wish I could remember what the depth was. It wasn't the deepest and it wasn't the shallowest.
I don't know if durian and mango will be trees or bushes, but trees aren't in game yet. They seem to have added the second round of bushes though, as I can now buy jackfruit, plums, and papaya (I'm in summer).

You need to let the pigs outside and have some grass starters going they'll dig them up

You'll need to get a new pig for the black truffle, after they get to 5 stars they bring you white ones.

You should get an aging barrel in the mail from Jeff.

You can get apples and apple pie as gifts in the mail as friendship level gifts.

Took to LITERALLY bombing the ocean with traps (over 100 of each right now) getting a TON of different captures I've never had before but it seems that no fall ones for the sea or pom pom

Probably good to give it a couple days then wander through it again

I have a quite large pasture full of grass and I let them out every day that weather allows, and still no sign of truffles.

not shrubs you need actual grass starters
then I don't think that they produce until they are 2* happy



As for the results of carpet bombing the ocean

Fall - three different 'floating' types (two I didn't have before)
Fall - four different crawling types (two I didn't have before)

Carpet bombing the land

Fall - Crawling types - 14 different ones, blackwidow was my only new one
Fall - Flying types - 4 different ones, nothing new

Conclusion

Underwater - they match SOME of the critters you can find, a LOT of areas are 'dead' the traps are never sprung... and the overlap between dead and live areas doesn't necessarily match up with where you can net critters

Land - it seems that just about anywhere a trap goes it will eventually catch something... it seems that every critter is in its catch table

Maybe? I've had it for 5 days, and it's at 2 hearts. I assumed since I've already gotten products from my goat and quail that I bought at the same time, I would've gotten truffles by now, too. But maybe not. I just wasn't sure how it worked, if I'd find them in the fields or if it'd show up like the milking icon does for the cow and goat when I tend to them in the morning. But I've searched the fields and not found anything.

I think it's probably related to some skill level or some such thing, if you didn't get it right away.

Since truffle (and truffle oil) is one of the items you'll get the most coins for it makes sense that it takes longer to befriend the pig until you get truffle.

In any case, it's correct that they give black truffle at first and then later on white truffle.
Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention at how many hearts you need specifically.
The wiki doesn't say so either. But I do remember that it took some time until I got any truffle.
