How Does Enchantment Work?

I found out too late that enchanting bug net and fishing pole don't work and I ran out of items to gain points for the other equipment. As I go back to saving more items, I don't have extra points to experiment now. Can someone give me advice on how they have found enchantment to be advantageous? I didn't seem to be able to select the enchantment that I wanted and how to accept what enchantment they offered for the tool, then had to use more points to switch the enchantment to another enchantment within the filled slot.

I heard that someone was able to improve their scythe and clear the ocean with little effort.

I appreciate whatever advice you may be able to offer for me. Thank you!

So three things:
1) your tools can only hold a certain number of enchantments. When you upgrade them you get another enchantment slot
2) go to the shrine in the centre of the giant village, make sure to have gems/ artefacts/ dinosaur bones. They hold a certain charge you need to create a random enchantment on a selected tool. You don't get to choose the enchantment, it's random so you will use a lot of resources. You will need to use multiple items to power the enchantment as a 1 off cost.
3) Enchantments can be further improved but cost more in resources and are on a different page of the giant village altar.

It makes life a lot easier with the right enchantment for the right tool so I'd recommend looking on a wiki for which would suit your play style.
Make sure to save up resources as enchanting is expensive.

I choose enchantments like no energy drain and extra loot drop for a lot of the things like pick and axe, were as for the watering can I choose one that means it doesn't always run out of water. Think about what your using the tool for and what would be make better use of your in game energy.

I don't know why I thought it was perfect already and I was doing something very wrong--it is just like many parts of the game and isn't finished yet. I appreciate your time and knowledge.
